We seek a dynamic leader to join the Informatics and Strategic Initiatives leadership team, a division of Boston University's (BU) Campus Planning & Operations group, to guide how information is strategically leveraged in support of the University's academic, research and student life programs that occupy over 15 million gross square feet of space on 3 primary campuses (Charles River, Medical, and Fenway) as well as over two dozen domestic and international facilities.
The Director of Space Management and Systems is responsible for the management of a comprehensive program for collecting, maintaining, and analyzing Boston University (BU) space & facility information. S/he will collaborate with colleagues in various University offices (such as Campus Planning, Sustainability, Post Award Financial Operations, Research, Budget & Business Affairs, and the Office of the Provost) to structure and manage large amounts of facility & space related data in FM:Interact, a cloud-based space and asset management information system to support a variety of financial, operational and other business needs, including the execution of periodic audits, reports, and updates.
The position participates in long-range comprehensive facilities planning efforts for the University, evaluating and establishing space management policies and strategies, as well as analyzing and assessing program requirements and space utilization. Ideally, the incumbent understands the connections between the University's strategic initiatives and facility operations & maintenance.
The incumbent will harvest facility asset information from multiple data sources including drawings, specifications, and site visits and makes recommendations based on this data. Comprehending information system data structures, utilizing data systems, and having the ability to provide analysis while presenting the information for a variety of audiences are essential components of this role.
Most importantly, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership competencies in building successful teams, building partnerships, facilitating change, managing conflict, and building trust.
Taking the initiative, developing creative solutions, anticipating and solving problems are vital attributes based on his or her experience with CAD, 3D modeling, as well as graphical and analytical tools. Focus on continuous improvement is essential for success in this position. A Bachelor's degree is required for this position, preferred Master's degree. 8 or more years or working experience to be considered.
