Leads and directs the work of the software development organization in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications/operating systems according to business needs. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Provide technical and functional leadership and direction to multiple software development teams consisting of software developers, automation engineers, analysts and technologists.
Build and manage the technical software development roadmap for future product development, including new services/applications and functional or operational improvements for existing services/applications while adhering to high quality standards.
Design and develop technical software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design and ensure failover availability and/or disaster recovery readiness as applicable.
Directly manage senior technical personnel like software development managers, development team leads, enterprise architects and principal software engineers. Assign, supervise and evaluate their work. Responsible for performance appraisals and compensation reviews of direct and indirect reports.
Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture team to design and build complex, high performance, reliable, scalable, testable and maintainable software solutions which meet product requirements and can adequately handle large volume of customer traffic.
Apply principles of secure software development and secure network design to ensure applications and interfaces/services adhere to industry-wide secure coding practices and meet regulatory and compliance standards. Ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of data at rest in the data store and while data is in transit across various software systems.
Hands on management of large, complex, cross-functional software projects to deliver business value. Consult with stakeholders on project status, change management, risk management and technical issues such as software system design and maintenance.
Work closely with the architecture and technology teams to leverage latest software innovations in the industry and evaluate and/or implement these at Overstock as applicable.
Deliver software development projects in accordance with high level company vision and department goals with minimal supervision and direct the development and programming of applications, services, interfaces and databases to meet these goals.
Direct the development of technical documentation and software testing/validation procedures. Co-ordinate production installations and monitoring of new deployments and configuration management to ensure application errors and technical issues are easily identified and fixed quickly.
Manage the budget of multiple software development teams and be responsible for hiring top-notch new talent, including software development managers, senior engineers and other technologists and mentoring and training them.
Use extensive experience and sound judgement to continuously seek innovative ways to improve development productivity and software quality through the introduction of new technologies, tools, systems and processes.

Minimum 7-10 years of project management or IT Management
Project Management experience in the Technology field.
Excellent communication skills; able to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing with team members and executive stakeholders applying tact and situational awareness
Ability to quickly grasp new concepts and technologies and adapt to changes and demands in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Great attitude in high pressure situations with ability to negotiate and influence effective outcomes and drive results

Solid influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to influence project managers to deliver milestones on schedule and with high standards of quality
