Community Day Charter Public School (CDCPS) seeks a passionate Director of School Nutrition with an outstanding background in school nutrition and wellness to work with our school teams, renowned for closing the achievement gap. CDCPS manages multiple campuses across Lawrence, MA, and serves 1,200 pre-kindergarten to 8th-grade students. The Director of School Nutrition will provide leadership on all components of school nutrition and wellness at a high performing charter school in Lawrence, Massachusetts. They are responsible for compliance with DESE's nutrition and food service requirements as well as the City of Lawrence's Board of Health requirements. The Director of School Nutrition is a collaborative leader who is committed to the ongoing development and wellbeing of students, teachers, and school staff. This position is in-person in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Food Vendor Management
Manage daily communication or troubleshoot any issues with vendor(s)
Delivery
Food safety (temp, portions, meal modifications, etc.)
Manage outreach and execution for special events
Field trips
Field days - special snacks (Ice cream, popsicles, etc.)
Food Service Operations
Supervise food service manager
Ensure daily meal counts are completed and accurate; records are kept
Ensure daily food production records and menus are kept
Coordinate local BoH inspections
Serve as point of contact for allergies and associated meal modifications; keep documentation of modification requests and ensure meals delivered meet the modification; work with families as needed
Perform required site audits on a monthly basis
Plan and order daily snack
Apply for and maintain annual food and milk permits
National School Lunch Program management
Serve as Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education's (MA DESE's) main point of contact
Complete annual applications for each site on MA DESE's security portal
Complete annual compliance packets for each site on security portal
Maintain all program compliance
Training
Meal counts & claims reconciliation
Documentation
Administrative Review lead
Lead wellness committee
Qualifications
Uphold a passionate belief in CDCPS' mission, values, and educational model
Bachelor's degree in a Food Services or Management related field (USDA required) is required
Strong attention to detail and deadlines
High level of organization
Fluency with basic technology and data platforms
Demonstrated experience in implementing long-range project planning
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to meet outcomes with colleagues who do not directly report to you
3-5 years of experience in an educational setting is preferred
Familiarity with DESE's National School Lunch Program is preferred
