Job IntroductionFor certain customer and/or product specializations there is a Director of Sales assigned due to the amount of business or strategic importance of that business. The Director of Sales has management responsibility for the Account Managers assigned to his/her team.

Major Responsibilities Assigning programs to the Account Managers and ensuring they perform successfully in support of the Target Pursuit Process and Account Management.\r

\r

  • Dividing account manager tasks and delegating them effectively to ensure the Account Managers successfully achieve their objectives and manage their responsibilities.\r

\r

  • Conducting performance reviews as scheduled and as required to assess performance since last review, address issues, make improvements and in support of professional development and succession plans.\r

\r

  • Performing the duties of an Account Manager on specific programs. This can include all three categories as described in the Account Manager Job Description Target Pursuit and Account Management of Business in Development and Business in Production.\r

\r

  • With regards to the Target Pursuit Process, the Director of Sales is responsible to:\r

\r

  • Ensure appropriate targets are identified for their particular account and/or product line, and ensure a competitive strategy is established.\r

\r

  • Support the strategy and execution of specific target pursuits as required.\r

\r

  • Support and contribute to the Target Pursuit process in coordination with the divisions, group management, the Executive Director, Sales VP's, Product Line Managers, marketing, etc. Ensure that the target pursuit strategy is as competitive as possible, resourced appropriately and that it is executed effectively.\r

\r

  • With regards to Commercial Management, the Director of Sales is responsible to:\r

\r

  • Manage customer price reduction initiatives with the objective to minimize margin erosion and maximize customer credit.\r

\r

Knowledge and Education Bachelor's Degree \r

  • Master's Degree preferred\r

  • Good communication skills \r

Work Experience 15 years applied experience \r

  • Sufficient experience leading teams and programs\r

  • Prefer FCA systems and processes experience \r

Work Environment Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, may require local, domestic and international travel. Ability to lift up to 35lbs.

The Director is responsible for meeting or exceeding a sales quota for the assigned client base and/or geographic territory and ensuring the Tyler Sales staff accurately represent Tyler's objectives. The New World Public Safety solution encompasses our police and fire computer-aided dispatch (CAD), mobile units, inspections, and field reporting as well as the supporting back office police, fire, and corrections records. This essential product line for police and fire departments across the United States is used to effectively dispatch units and make them more efficient in their daily job functions. Location Troy, Michigan Travel 50% Responsibilities * Develops a strategic sales plan for the assigned client base and/or geographic territory and ensures the sales plan is implemented in a manner that maximizes sales to Tyler. * Acts as a resource to sales staff to assist with day-to-day activities as well as to bring newly hired staff up to speed. * Handles personnel issues and decisions such as hiring, employee performance and development, etc. * Negotiates contracts and handles pricing decisions within parameters as defined by senior management. * Travels to trade shows and/or client sites as needed. * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree preferred. * A minimum of ten years of experience selling software products and services. * Proven experience acting as a resource to staff in a management capacity. * Proven track record of assisting and developing employees to maximum performance. * Must possess a competitive drive and results-oriented approach. * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent presentation skills. Previous public speaking experience a plus. * Must be a self-starter in addition to a team player. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and employees required. * Must possess general computer (PC) literacy and proficiency with MS Office products. * Must possess a valid driver's license.
