Position Summary

As a Director of Sales, you will partner with program leaders to develop books of business and sales strategies for an area of responsibility. Your role includes recruiting, hiring, and training sales staff. You will oversee program growth, assist in ensuring the sales team's performance of the sales plan, and ensure the professional development of sales staff. You encourage strong partnerships with clinical leaders and colleagues and serve as a resource to all staff.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Create and manage Hospice Care Consultants by their "Book of Business"

  • Define and manage the monthly and annual sales objectives for all sales staff

  • Assess marketing and sales needs, create a plan, gather resources, review, and modify

  • Closely monitor all sales metrics, including contacts, closing, and conversions; communicate progress toward goals

  • Establish professional relationships in the community, promoting Compassus to yield patient referrals

  • Monitor and report on issues affecting the business, including competitive pressures, talent, recruiting, market changes and other challenges that impact performance


  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

  • Ability to travel extensively in assigned territory or region

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Valid driver's license and auto liability insurance

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree along with at least three years' experience leading sales teams is strongly preferred.

  • Or at least five years' experience managing sales teams is required.

  • Masters in Business Administration in related field is desirable. At least two years' experience selling services within the healthcare field is preferred.

Includes, but not limited to, coaching and developing managers, managing performance and expenses, recruitment and selection of team members, supporting the business strategies to achieve the division's financial, service, collection and growth goals. Operations Manage P&L. Set financial goals for centers. Maintain accurate cash controls and security procedures with Company and Loss Prevention standards. Prepare and execute periodic center business reviews with assigned centers. Review and action plan around regional compliance reviews completed periodically by Regional Compliance Specialist with center staff. Review operating results of centers to identify areas of opportunity for increased profits and/or decreased expenses. Oversee expansion of new centers and expansion or implementation of new products and services. Support the region's financial goals. Marketing Maintain an on-going marketing strategy and marketing tracking sheets for the centers. Conduct divisional market analysis/strategy to increase total market share and active accounts. Leadership Recognize and develop skills/abilities of associates in order to meet center and Company objectives. Motivate, train and develop center team members on proper techniques and processes. Human Resources Recruiting, hiring, training, disciplining, evaluating, developing, and terminating employees within the division. Oversee bonuses and payroll. Sales Understand, recommend and sell products and services to meet customer's needs. Demonstrate and develop associate sales techniques and strategies to meet customer's needs. Compliance Work with managers to ensure that all federal, state, and local laws are followed. Partner with Regional Compliance Specialist in the region to meet company expectations for compliance with company policy, federal, state, and local laws. Collections Oversee team in collections from past due, (NSF), and write-offs, consistent with Company policy and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Equivalent Education Level Required: College degree in business related field or equivalent experience. Experience Required: Demonstrated knowledge of business operations in a multi-unit environment, preferably with 3 – 5 years of experience. Knowledge Required: P&L, collections, and cost controlling measures. Strong computer, telephone, and mathematical skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem solving, reasoning ability, analytical, time management, organization skills. Experience with managing, training, coaching, and developing a team. Strong tenacity and persuasion skills. Ability to develop and maintain business relationships. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required. Physical Requirements: Standing/sitting for long periods of time; occasional lifting less than10 lbs.; driving and having access during the workday to an insured and reliable transportation in order to complete tasks, and providing staffing coverage; exposure to outdoors limited to elements that the ordinary person would be exposed to at that time; typing; data entry; grasping; ability to travel to, be physically present at, and complete the physical requirements.
