This position leads and is responsible for ensuring store and supply chain/manufacturing safety programming and performance. This position will also analyze internal and external safety trends and develop strategies to drive improvement and maintain compliance with regulatory standards including but not limited to OSHA, DOT and fire code compliance. This position reports to the Vice President of Asset Protection and Safety.

What You'll be Doing:

  • Lead the development of organizational safety & Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) short term and long term strategies to deliver on continuous performance and program improvements within retail stores, distribution centers, transportation/logistics and manufacturing. This includes recommendation on metric tracking, safety initiatives, employee engagement, and effective communication strategies.

  • Responsible for overall compliance associated with safety & EHS metrics and reporting tools.

  • Ensure the business complies with federal, state and local safety regulations by keeping current of existing, new or changing legislation, anticipating future legislation, interpreting standards, enforcing adherence to regulation and advising management on needed actions.

  • Collaborate with local, state and federal authorities on regulatory topics to ensure the business operates within compliance of regulatory standards to include OSHA, (Federal and State), fire code and DOT compliance.

  • Identify and monitor key performance metrics and indicators to ensure both process and continuous improvement.

  • Lead the corporate safety and supply chain EHS teams and facilitate the development of team members.

  • Works with and supports the development of policy, training and compliance teams to develop training, guidelines and procedures as related to new products, processes, design and infrastructure changes and equipment.

  • Designs and implements periodic safety and EHS compliance audits of operations and prepare associated corrective action plans; provide guidance and support in connection with audit findings; and assist in tracking audit findings to resolution.

  • Provide executive written reports on safety EHS results and safety/EHS updates to management to apprise leaders of progress and any critical issues.

  • Identify, implement, and manage appropriate environmental and sustainability programs in alignment with corporate goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for operational contributions to maximize profitability, cost control and overall improvement of efficiencies, which includes the identification, evaluation and building of new business processes and providing guidance on operational changes required to support these opportunities

  • Serves as the point of contact with business stakeholders regarding safety to include legal, risk management, compliance, asset protection, real estate/properties, human resources and the business operators in retail and supply chain.

  • Works to coordinate communications with state and federal agencies and preparing local teams for agency interactions

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, industrial safety and health, safety engineering, or safety management, or equivalent experience.

  • 5 or more years of experience in Safety, which includes at least 5 years of directing and leading large safety programs across multiple facilities totaling thousands of employees.

  • Retail Asset Protection/Loss Prevention experience preferred.

  • Industry designations such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred, OSHA certified, Fire Code Certified.

  • Expert knowledge of Environmental, Safety, DOT and OSHA, Worker's Compensation regulations and compliance.

  • Knowledge with state and federal rules which apply to workplace health and safety.

  • Strong program management skills and the ability to work in an open and consultative manner
