Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.
Responsible for new employee process including interviewing, selection, and successful integration into the department.
Provides leadership, supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, separation from employment and completing employee performance appraisals. Documenting all activities in coordination with Human Resources practices.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains or improves productivity and safety standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Implement safety program developed by the Bell County Engineering department.
Conducts work site surveys; reviews project priority lists; supervises daily crew operations, assigns work to crew members, and resolves workplace issues.
Orders and schedules delivery of required materials, equipment, and supplies on a project basis, based on the work being performed.
Develop innovative work methods for determining construction crew size and needs based on the work being performed to maximize crew productivity.
Supervises work in progress, and ensures work adheres to quality and safety practices. Assists with the coordination of work with outside contractors.
Creates daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual plan for Road and Bridge Department to ensure maximum efficiency of personnel time and assets.
Meets with landowners about concerns, plans and progress.
Reads and interprets blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, specifications, construction drawings, and surveys.
Prepares a variety of reports on assigned projects, to include reports documenting work activities, materials used and project status.
Monitor budget to ensure adherence to established budget, offer input for future budgeting.
Maintain equipment cost and usage reports.
Serves as quality control manager on assigned projects; inspects work; checks dimension and ensures adherence to project specifications/standards. Maintains and interprets standards and specifications.
Responsible for being on-call for County Road and Bridge related emergencies.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a high school or GED equivalent and eight (8) years of experience in bridge, street and roadway maintenance and repairs, equipment operations or other relevant experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Proposed Compensation:
$64,710.00 - $105,658.00
Additional Recruiting Instruction:
Pay Range - $85,184 - $119,278 - Please disregard the Proposed Compensation Range.
