Position Summary:

The Director of Risk Management is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the Risk Management team. This position is responsible for developing effective partnerships with all levels of organizational leadership to help curtail loss from accidents, crime and other reasons. The Director will be responsible for developing new preventative programs as well as improving current safety programs for the organization. These programs will include activities such as training and education for the organization in the areas of asset protection, fraud and safety awareness and prevention.

Essential Functions:

  • Asset Protection: Responsible for ensuring Goodwill-Easter Seals MN has a robust asset prevention program where asset losses are prevented, investigated, and resolved.

  • Stakeholder Health and Safety Leadership: Develop the overall strategy of continuous improvement for GESMN Environmental Health and Safety Initiatives.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Model organizational culture, values, and professional behaviors.

About You:

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to effectively communicate with supervisors, employees and customers.

  • Proficient in various software applications including Windows XP, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and using the internet.

  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.

  • Ability and desire to provide excellent customer service.

  • Ability to interact with a very diverse population in a human services setting.

  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.

  • Perseverance and commitment to getting the job done.

  • Demonstrated ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Prior Experience & Education:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of leadership/managerial experience within Asset Protection, Environmental Health and Safety, and /or Risk Management function required.

  • Experience with retail, service and/or multi outlet industry preferred.

  • Loss prevention experience must include asset security, executive protection, background investigation, crisis management, investigation, legal principles and proprietary information protection.

  • Ability to travel in excess of 40% of the time.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.

This role will elevate the knowledge, confidence and overall performance of our employees by developing and executing training plans and creating training resources for employees to use in their day-to-day duties. Duties and Responsibilities: * Develop, recommend and deliver training that meets the organization's needs through a variety of approaches, including instructor-led, e-learning, Affinity Plus-built resources and off-the-shelf resources. * Create and deliver training to both new and existing employees inclusive of culture training, new employee training, products and services training, technical system training, soft-skill training and service and sales training. * Lead and develop a team of training team members to successfully design, develop and implement training programs. * Develop a new leader onboarding program aligned with our culture and business needs. * Build partnerships with key stakeholders and partners in the organization to uncover opportunities and gaps that, if resolved through training, could elevate employee and organizational performance (i.e. Compliance, QA, Risk Management, Branch Services, Phone Services, Marketing) * Continuously assesses the knowledge needs of employees to understand areas of opportunity within the training and develop plans to fulfill these needs. * Create a comprehensive plan, in partnership with Compliance, to integrate compliance training into the organizational training the team provides. * Manage the LMS system, ensuring accurate and timely information is provided in a consistent format. * Conduct a training technology needs assessment and make recommendations and plans to implement any new technologies that could compliment or replace our current offerings. * Regularly review and report on performance indicators that measure the effectiveness of training strategies and plans. * Prepare and manage department's budget that meet departmental goals and provide for effective management of resources. * Participate in Project Management led organizational-level projects as a training expert and liaison to build resources and training delivery to our employees. * Demonstrate the desired culture and philosophies of the organization and incorporate these into the design phase of training. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills: * 7-10 years of experience in hands-on leading a training department required * Experience leading training in a mid-size organization with multiple locations. * Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. * Experience with Learning Management tools and platforms. * Ability to think strategically in the development and implementation of training business plans which align with organizational goals and culture. * Ability to effectively coach, lead and motivate others to achieve results. * Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and demands. * Critical thinking in making sound business decisions on behalf of the organization. * Stellar verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent change management skills with the ability to collaborate and influence. * Strong budgetary skills with the ability to manage costs and optimize resources. * Ability to make formal presentations on a variety of work-related topics on a regular basis required.
