We are looking for a highly motivated Director of Revenue Accounting to join our expanding Finance team. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Controller this role will be integral to implementing the end-to-end accounting, business systems and processes needed for the new accounting standard ASC 606 Revenue from Contracts with Customers. The Director will lead and manage global revenue accounting operations in a dynamic environment with significant revenue growth. The successful candidate will need to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including: Business Operations, IT and Professional Services in the coordination, accounting, billing and review of sales transactions.
What you get to do in this role:
  • Manage the monthly revenue close process, in support of accurate and timely reporting of results
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting close for areas of functional responsibility including preparing or reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ensure that contract financial data from sub-systems (Sales Force and Open Air) reconciles with and is completely and accurately recorded in the accounting system (NetSuite)
  • Design and develop processes for the efficient review and documentation of non-standard deals and accounting conclusions and entries
  • Review all material new contracts and ensure proper revenue recognition treatment
  • Ensure revenue recognition policies and procedures are in conformity with U.S. GAAP, pertinent authoritative literature (currently, ASC 605 and in future ASC 606) and the Companys policies
  • Design and document internal controls, processes, policies and procedures as it relates to end to end quote to cash process
  • Work with Corporate Controller and external auditors to support the annual audit requirements
  • Partner with theproduct development and sales teams to provide guidance on contract structure and terms to optimize revenue recognition.
  • Assist FP&A team in analyzing revenue trends, generating revenue forecasts, and investigating variances from forecast
  • Develop best practice policies and procedures and drive Quote to Cash process improvement
  • Actively participate in post-acquisition integration teams with focus on revenue recognition and reporting
In order to be successful in this role, we need someone who has:
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA required, Big 4 experience highly preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting and reporting (software preferred) (5+ years managerial)
  • Previous experience managing revenue recognition in a publicly traded company preferred
  • Experience managing teams and mentoring individuals
  • Extensive working knowledge of ASC 985-605 and ASC 605-20-25
  • Familiarity with ASC 606 and implications for implementation
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting goals and deadlines
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and ability to drive change
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner to all levels of management and across functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Experience with NetSuite strongly preferred
