SUMMARY
The Director of Residence Life is responsible for all aspects of residence life and residential community standards and engagement, as well as judicial affairs. The Director of Residence Life will oversee all housing operations and supervise a residence life staff of an Assistant Director of Residence Life, several Residence Directors, Graduate Assistants, and 12-16 undergraduate Resident Assistants. The Director of Residence Life works closely with the residence life staff, student engagement, the maintenance and housekeeping departments, Public Safety, and the Dean of Student Success and Engagement (DSSE), as well as the Provost and President's offices in creating a comprehensive and supportive living and learning environment. The Director of Residence Life is responsible for the selection and training of Residence Life Professional Staff and Resident Assistants. When assigned or in the absence of the DSSE or the Assistant Dean, the director will serve as the chief judicial officer in residential conduct cases.
Goals:
Set the tone for the implementation of a residential environment that promotes belonging and inclusion, is positive and engaging, and challenges students' personal and academic growth.
Oversee all community, programming, and initiatives occurring within the residence halls.
Develop and initiate holistic support services for Rosemont students in all areas which pertain to student life as it relates to the residence halls.
Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and positive living environment that enhances student development and learning, and a sense of belonging.
Provide direction, oversight, support, and professional development for assistant director of residential life, for the live-in Residence Directors, and for all resident assistants.
In collaboration with the DSSE and Assistant Dean, administer and oversee the disciplinary policies which apply to the campus community.
Facilitate and develop partnerships with appropriate offices impacting residence life.
Develop and facilitate leadership training programs for the residence hall staff and the resident students to foster community development within the residence halls.
Develop learning outcomes, conduct assessment, Annual Work Plan goals and prepare and carry out Institutional Effectiveness plans and reports for programs and initiatives in Residence Life.
Actively participate in pertinent campus committees to include but not be limited to: Orientation, Safety, Title IX, etc.
Participate in professional development activities that will enhance knowledge and skills in student affairs and residence life.
Develop and execute educational training programs on a variety of different topics to include leadership sessions, diversity training initiatives, and wellness programs, working in collaboration with other Student Life departments.
Create an academic environment conducive to living-learning and scholarly pursuits (such as academic specialty housing, faculty interaction, and student success programming).
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE*
Select, train and evaluate Residence Life Professional Staff and paraprofessional staff;
Serve as a member of the Orientation Committee and assist with the planning and execution of the program activities throughout the Orientations sessions.
Serve as the primary on-call administrator for matters requiring support or decisions beyond the scope of the entry-level residential professional staff;
Serve as mediator in conflict resolution sessions between and among resident students;
Make room assignments for all new students according to the data furnished by the Admissions Office;
Supervise the room selection process for all students requesting to live on-campus;
Serve as a resource/referral person for individual student concerns about residence life and/or student affairs;
Authorize and process room changes in consultation with the students involved and the resident professional staff;
Keep resident students informed of current college policies and procedures regarding residence life and the services and resources on the campus;
Enforce College discipline policies as detailed in the Rosemont College Student Handbook;
Develop on-going cooperative educational programs for all students on campus with a focus on diversity and belonging, safety and leadership development;
Partner with Counseling Services and the Wellness Center to assist students with their adjustment to the college environment;
Work in cooperation with the Director of the Physical Plant, Director of Public Safety, and Housekeeping regarding the needs and concerns of the residents;
Keep accurate records, data and statistics on the Jenzabar computer system for housing information pertinent to the college housing operations;
Attend, support and contribute to programs sponsored by Student Life;
Any other duties as assigned.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Required, Master's Degree in student affairs or related field or comparable experience preferred
Higher Education experience Preferred
3-5 years' experience in an administrative position in Student Life with an emphasis in Residence Life and Judicial Affairs
Experience in supervising professional or graduate-level staff
Creative problem-solving skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent written communication skills
Demonstrated supervisory and team-building skills
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Note:
Required to live on or close to campus
The Director serves as a senior on-call administrator in support of the resident coordinator duty rotation.
In addition to regularly scheduled hours, must be able to respond to emergencies and attend programs sponsored by Student life during night and weekend hours.
