Glenville State University has an opening for a Director of Residence Life. This is a 12-month, position with state benefits.  The Director of Residence Life reports to the Director of Student Life and is responsible for all building specific administrative tasks as well as any other related duties assigned.

  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of a comprehensive and contemporary Residential Life program.

  • Develop and implement diverse programming to include educational, cultural, social and recreational opportunities for students in the Residence Halls.

  • Ensure that student health and safety issues are paramount in our residential life programs and facilities.

  • Coordinate student life activities in the residence halls.

  • Assist in the establishment and enforcement of acceptable standards of conduct within residence hall facilities.

  • Assure that University rules and regulations are properly administered within the residence halls.

  • Direct, supervise and evaluate the Residence Hall Associates, Resident Assistants, Residence Hall Office Worker staff, and night-time Student Safety staff.

  • Provide good organization and communication while promoting good staff relations, support for individual staff, and effective information exchange.

  • Assist in the selection and appropriate training of all residence hall personnel.

  • Communicate with the Physical Plant and Custodial staff regarding repairs and maintenance problems in the residence halls.

  • Maintain records on residents in regards to room assignments, key distribution, and residence hall damages.

  • Promote opportunities for development of all members of the staff and hall including professional development.

  • Monitor all disciplinary actions and refer to appropriate judicial body as necessary.

  • Serve as an intermediary to help identify and resolve social or other problems and refer professional resources as necessary.

  • Assist students in developing skills to address interpersonal conflicts.

  • Assist in contacting students for required follow-up in areas such as deficiencies, early alerts, housing reapplication, and outstanding account balances.

Bachelor's degree required. Master's preferred.  Six months related experience required.  Prior experience planning and directing social activities, managing and supervising others, and prior counseling experience is helpful.Applicants must include a letter of interest, current resume, and names and contact information for at least three references.
