Job Summary

The Director of Recruitment, Marketing, and Communications reports directly to the John Muir Charter Schools (JMCS) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The Recruitment, Marketing, and Communication coordinates and oversees all aspects of direct student recruitment and developing relationships with agencies that may refer students to John Muir Charter Schools and our partnering agencies. The Recruitment, Marketing, and Communication will regularly assist in the collection and updates of data to show progress towards JMCS enrollment and average daily attendance goals.

The Recruitment, Marketing, and Communication will oversee all JMCS outward facing communications. This is a full-time, exempt position. About John Muir Charter Schools Founded in 1998 to provide high school education programs to young people in the California Conservation Corps, John Muir Charter Schools provides young people in grads 6-12 (up to age 27) the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while working with California Conservation Corps, Local Conservation Corps, YouthBuild, and WIOA sites in 38 California locations.

Primary Responsibilities: Creating and maintaining a robust social media calendar Planning and sending email communications Developing blog posts, social posts, video content, and newsletter content Working directly with school site staff to surface and tell compelling stories that speak to the value of JMCS Supporting staff focused on student referral, recruitment, and enrollment with relevant promotional materials Identifying and facilitating appropriate in-person and virtual opportunities to promote JMCS (events, sponsorships, etc.) Ensuring consistent use of the JMCS brand on all print collateral and digital assets Develop and maintain relationships with outs

The Communications and Marketing Manager should possess the following qualifications: 3-5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, marketing, and recruitment Bachelor's degree in a related field (Communications, public relations, journalism, etc.) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills Basic graphic and layout design skills (Word, PowerPoint, Canva) Experience with multiple social media platforms (X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin) Video production and editing skills are preferred but not required Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) tools and WordPress preferred but not required A valid driver's license

Track and maintain orientation and program entry schedules of JMCS partners and tailor JMCS recruitment programs to meet those schedules Place advertisements in targeted markets to recruit JMCS students Use technology platforms like SlickText, GoogleDrive, and social media platforms to contact and follow up with potential student leads Develop print, radio, television, and electronic media contacts in JMCS' major service areas. Assist in writing and sending out press releases highlighting notable events surrounding JMCS students, their stories, and their successes. Other Duties as Assigned:

The JMCS CEO or COO may assign additional duties to the Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator as needed. Mental acuity to assist in the management of educational programs, interpret and implement rules relating to these programs, make policy decisions, evaluate results, and make determinations relative to the effective performance of the tasks. Facility to sit at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations for extended periods of time. Facility to see and read, with or without vision aids, laws and codes, rules, policies, and other printed matter and computer screens and print-outs.

Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and to hear and understand speech on the telephone. Manual dexterity to dial a telephone and enter data into a computer. Facility to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations, in training sessions and meetings.

Facility to drive a car and travel for work purposes NOTE: This list of essential functions and physical requirements is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary in accordance with the requirements of the job. Travel: This position requires occasional travel within the State of California to attend JMCS administrative meetings, school in-services, visit current and potential partners, recruit JMCS staff and students, and visit JMCS school sites.
