Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Director of Recruitment.

Job Description:

The Director of Recruitment contributes to the successful attainment of enrollment goals by leading the development and execution of strategies and activities for recruiting and yielding domestic first-year and transfer students, including the creation of a master territory recruitment plan, and supervising all campus- and regionally-based domestic recruiters. The director provides a focused and innovative approach to territory management, establishes goals and objectives for individual recruiters and the team as a whole, and evaluates progress toward recruitment success.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the development, implementation, assessment, and ongoing refinement of data-informed plans for recruitment and yield of domestic first-year and transfer students to meet institutional goals including, but not limited to, academic caliber, headcount, diversity, discount rate, and net tuition revenue. Plan and recommend all domestic recruitment activities to the Dean of Admission. Define and track appropriate metrics to evaluate ROI and outcomes, and revise strategies and practices accordingly.

  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate both locally- and regionally-based recruiters who cover recruitment territories within the United States. Develop and oversee both initial and ongoing training, as well as professional development. Train and mentor staff on effective recruitment strategies and techniques; create regular opportunities for staff to workshop approaches.

  • Set staff priorities and deploy staff resources in accordance with the college's enrollment objectives. Inspire team members an openness to possibility, engagement with goals and objectives, and exceptional standards of individual and team performance. Evaluate staff according to well-defined metrics, working with staff to adjust performance or workloads as needed. Contribute to a collaborative, results-oriented, data-informed, and relationship-driven work culture.

  • Represent F&M externally, managing a recruitment territory and developing and maintaining relationships with community-based organizations, secondary school counselors, independent consultants, and other influencers.

  • Collaborate with campus partners to recruit first-year and transfer students while meeting individual and shared goals. Identify and coordinate opportunities to connect prospective students with members of the campus community, such as faculty, staff, coaches, current students, and alumni, as appropriate to their needs, interests, and college search stage.

  • Manage domestic recruitment budget, including allocation, monitoring, and reconciliation, aligning the use of funds with priorities and goals. Evaluate ROI of various activities and adjust spending accordingly.

  • Works collaboratively with other admissions leaders in recommending standards, best practices, and related policies/procedures.

  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.

  • At least 5 years of work experience in selective college admission, including experience in territory management, or experience from which a similar knowledge base and skill set would be obtained.

  • Proven success in managing and motivating staff in a collaborative and productive culture.

  • A deep understanding of both the analytic and relational aspects of recruitment, including effective utilization of predictive modeling.

  • Knowledge and appreciation of a residential liberal arts environment.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to contribute to a work environment that is welcoming to people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and with an enrollment-related CRM.

  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Successful interview.

  • Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 or more years of work experience in selective college admission, including experience in territory management, or experience from which a similar knowledge base and skill set would be obtained.

  • Experience recruiting transfer students.

  • Experience managing a hybrid team based in multiple time zones.

  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects and to manage the work of a team juggling multiple projects at a fast pace.

  • An appetite for continuous innovation and improvement and the inclination to approach work from a posture of possibility.

  • Experience with Technolutions Slate.

Additional Information:
