The Director of Recruitment and Admissions is one of the most important roles at the VCU Brandcenter. He/ She is the first person many of our students will meet on their career journeys; responsible for welcoming new students and actively sourcing potential students to the school's five-track program. As the lead on a Brandcenter recruitment efforts, the Director of Recruitment of Admissions continually evaluates and improves processes, strategies, and tactics related to recruitment and admissions. He/She makes solid recommendations on best practices and strategies based on current expertise in graduate recruitment. This position develops, plans, and implements a marketing and recruitment plan. This position reports to the Executive Director and requires frequent travel. The holder of the position provides expertise, knowledge of best practices, and leadership to the VCU Brandcenter to facilitate the creation and implementation of graduate recruitment strategies. He/She also oversees departmental processes, ensuring that the end-to-end admissions process runs smoothly for applicants, faculty member, and staff of the VCU Brandcenter. The position is responsible for understanding and interpreting various types of data trends to create market-responsive strategies and closely tracking and monitoring the effectiveness of those strategies. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions has two direct reports, one person responsible for content marketing and one junior analyst. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions applies a wide degree of creativity and latitude to guide the design and implementation of multifaceted communication plans, ensure engaging and targeted content for various platforms, and measure and analyze the effectiveness of a variety of communication tactics. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions trains and supports individual graduate program staff and faculty members in their recruitment efforts, and works to identify and implement new ways to identify potential prospects, attract applicants, and yield results. This person ensures that prospective students receive excellent support from the point of first contact through the final step in the in the admissions process. He/She presents and provides information as appropriate at the college level, forges effective relationships with team members, and identifies and implements best practices in advising prospective students. The Director of Recruitment and Admissions maintains collaborative working relationships with colleagues in the VCU Brandcenter, School of Business, and other areas across campus to achieve enrollment goals through comprehensive development and execution of recruiting plans. Further, the candidate must have demonstrated experience working and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU. Essential Functions:

  • Drive and manage the full life-cycle recruitment process

  • Develop creative recruiting strategies to identify and attract top talent

  • Source and qualify candidates prior to submitting for admission consideration

  • Create a pipeline of qualify candidates for future openings

  • Maintain accurate records and reports concerning all phases of the recruitment process

  • Suggest and implement improvements

  • Be a positive influence internally as well as a brand ambassador externally

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors' Degree

  • Four to seven years of experience in recruitment, admissions, and/or student affairs

  • Ability to drive and travel locally, and on occasion, nationally

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Ability to stay focused, be efficient, and manage multiple priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgement

  • Use logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems

  • Professional demeanor

  • Must be capable of working and thinking independently

  • Ability to overcome obstacles and meet deadlines

  • Mature,energetic, and willing and able to take on challenging work

  • Experience reviewing portfolios and evaluating talent

In collaboration with the Director of Operations, this position will: -Provide daily support of Admissions operations specifically serving as a resource for escalation of individual applicant issues and concerns. -Manage communication with undergraduate and graduate applicants along with identified non-matriculated students. Ensure that letters, acceptance packets, and enrollment materials and emails are sent at appropriate times while maintaining quality control. Collaborate with other offices to synchronize data to meet notification goals. -Assist with the implementation and advancement of Admission application software platforms. Liaise with campus constituents, troubleshoots issues, coordinate staff training, and participate in professional development plans. Provide daily and on-going departmental support as appropriate. -Assist with developing, managing, and evaluating processes that support comprehensive (undergraduate, graduate, and International) admission functions at the University. Directly involved with admission operation processes including application import and input, scanning, indexing, credit card payments, technology (e.g., Slate, Ellucian Banner, Perceptive Content) configuration/integration, and technology (e.g., Slate, Ellucian Banner) update/troubleshooting. Manage annual set-up processes related to The Common Application and Liaison UniCAS. -Coordinate proactive, seamless, and "paperless" communication with decentralized admissions program faculty and staff in academic units to ensure sound decision making processing. Coordinate training and on-going support for Graduate Program Coordinators to use Liaison UniCAS for application review. Assist with refinements that support business processes. -Available to serve on special and/or standing committees of the University. Assumes major responsibility for one or more assigned tasks and for special projects as assigned. -Develop and implement business plans for the integrated domestic and international processing area. Perform ongoing assessments and improvements in accordance with best practices. Instrumental in coordinating annual application roll-over activities. -Collaborate with information technology professionals to enhance and streamline admissions processing systems. Stay up to date with technology currently in use at the university and explores ways to implement processing enhancements. -Meet with university administrators and other stakeholders to understand their needs and to give regular feedback. -Serve on various administrative committees both standing and ad hoc.
