An individual could be successful if they possess the following.

Your daily responsibilities include

  • Supervising all parts of the Racing Department including Racing Secretary, Bookkeeper, Racing Officials and Track Superintendent and Racing Services Department including the Racing Services Manager and mutuels

  • Ensure each department has proper and efficient staffing and be responsible for setting, and meeting, established budget and customer service goals and objectives.

  • Responsible for working with the Racing Services Manager to set annual racing calendar and post times to optimize handle and revenue.

  • Responsible for annual planning and execution of racing operational and capital budgets, racing dates, promotions, wagering format, simulcasting schedules and annual racing permit applications for Racing Commission.

  • Communication and coordination with horsemen and breeders' associations and Ohio State Racing Commission officials, including adherence to all Commission rules and regulations.

  • Involvement with racing industry organizations as needed.

  • Coordination with all internal departments to ensure racing goals and objectives are carried out and communicated effectively.

  • Position will include work at direction of VP-Racing Mahoning Valley including work at Mahoning Valley Race Course during various times during the year.

  • Projects at the direction of Corporate Vice President Racing.

  • Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway reserves the right to revise or change job duties and responsibilities as the need arises with appropriate notification to Team Members.

To be successful in this position it will require the following skill set

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university

  • Five (5) years of progressive experience in the racing industry

  • Must be able to be licensed by the Ohio State Racing Commission and United States Trotting Association

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Access, Word) and familiar with systems used by United State Trotting Association

  • Ability to understand and analyze Budget & P&L Statements

  • Proven managerial and critical thinking skills required

  • Must possess excellent employee relations skills

  • Good oral and written communication skills, must be fluent and literate in English

  • Ability to respond calmly and make rational decisions when required

  • Physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 25 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces

Interface and build relationships with select technology leaders in order to understand customer needs. Develop budget and manage monthly expenses to budgeted spending levels.<br />  <br /> The Director of Engineering will have direct management of Engineers, Designers, and Engineering Support for new and existing products while focusing on continuous improvements of current products, new product development and supporting existing systems.
