The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible for developing, administering, training personnel, and maintaining quality control activities and procedures required to ensure that the company's facilities, equipment, methods, processes, and procedures comply with specified quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate as the internal expert for all required documentation relating to ASME, ISO and defense related volume.

  • Maintain ASME program documentation, audits, changes, and project requirements.

  • Support organization as an advisor for ASME and customer requirements.

  • Lead the implementation of ISO 9000 certification.

  • Develop and maintain ISO 9000 documentation, procedures, trainings, and audits.

  • Collaborate and work with Shop management on AISC program requirements.

  • Develop the companies Quality Management Strategy.

  • Implement and drive monthly quality meetings.

  • Oversee and drive all quality related customer facing activities.

  • Implement and drive a Receiving Inspection System; support ISO, readiness to save and purchasing supplier report cards.

  • Bachelor's Degree (or 5 years documented experience) in Engineering, Quality Control, technical or other related discipline.

  • Ability to provide operational training to others as needed.

  • Must have a "sense of urgency" regarding quality and on-time delivery.

  • Must be viewed as a "source of knowledge" in relation to Quality processes and procedures or have the ability to obtain it either internally or externally.

  • Demonstrated knowledge about quality control in a metals manufacturing environment.

  • Must have a working knowledge of Control of Inspection, Measuring and Testing equipment.

  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering prints and specifications.

  • Update departmental procedures/work instructions/forms including revision changes and updates to established documents

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Valid driver's license required to travel to various job sites or ability or provide own transportation for necessary job functions and environments.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and peripheral vision.

  • Employees must request assistance and use appropriate equipment when necessary.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving equipment, outside weather conditions, enters and exits vehicle, enters and moves about job sites and facilities.

  • The noise level in the work environment may be moderate to loud at times.

  • This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

Travel

  • Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.

  • Travel to work sites as needed or requested.
