We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.
The PMO team is looking to add a Director of Project Delivery to lead an existing team of highly talented project and construction managers in the next phase of the company's growth. This job is located ideally in Irvington, New York, but remote locations will be considered. This position will report to the VP of Project Management Office
As the Director of Project Delivery, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project and construction management for new and existing projects, ensuring adherence to current processes while driving the implementation of new strategies, and building and maintaining partnerships with industry-leading vendors. Your leadership experience and strategic vision will be crucial in ensuring the successful execution of greenhouse and business projects that contribute to our company's mission of giving more people access to the freshest, tastiest, cleanest, and most responsibly grown produce available.
Specifically, you will:
Lead, manage, and continuously develop a team of project and construction managers to ensure successful execution of greenhouse and business projects from initiation to completion
Develop and implement project management processes and methodologies to optimize efficiency and minimize risks
Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules, and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure project success
Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including Project Controls, Engineering, Agriculture, and Farm Operations, to ensure alignment and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle
Oversee the construction of projects, including site preparation, equipment installation, commissioning, and close out
Develop and implement construction management strategies to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
Coordinate with Project Controls to control project programming, cost control, time control, quality control, major procurement & contract administration, and oversee design, construction & commissioning activities during the implementation phase
Manage relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure quality standards are met and project milestones are achieved
Participate in the development of and adherence to BrightFarms project management protocol and corporate governance
Evaluate and track existing project delivery processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure incorporation in subsequent projects
Lead the implementation of new processes, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery efficiency and effectiveness to drive cost and schedule savings
Provide training and guidance to team members on new processes and tools to ensure successful adoption and integration
Provide strong leadership and direction to the project delivery team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
Mentor and coach team members to develop their skills and capabilities, enabling them to excel in their roles
Set clear performance objectives and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations
Foster a safe and inclusive work environment
In addition to the duties above, you may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the company
The ideal candidate has:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field; advanced degree preferred
15+ years in project management and construction management, preferably in the renewable energy industry
Experience in designing and constructing high-tech Controlled Environment Agriculture facilities
Management of construction projects more than $100M
Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve results
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and stakeholders
Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions
Proficiency in project management software and tools
Knowledge of statutory requirements relating to the industry
