SUMMARY

You will plan, direct, and coordinate activities of Program Coordinators, Leads, students, staff and instructors of assigned Health related programs to ensure that the mission of Mountainland Technical College is accomplished.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DIRECTOR, HEALTH PROGRAMS

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides leadership and management in support of the Office of the Vice President of Instruction in all aspects of the teaching and learning process.

  • Develops and mentors Coordinators and Program Lead Instructors for future leadership opportunities.

  • Responsible for ensuring the delivery of high quality, effective educational programs and services in the following Programs and Courses:

  • Advanced Emergency Medical Technician

  • Dental Assisting

  • Emergency Medical Technician

  • Pharmacy Technician

  • Phlebotomy

  • Sterile Processing Technician

  • American Heart Association Courses

  • IV Certification Course

  • Maintains departmental accreditation through the Council on Occupational Education which may include travel to annual conferences and/or participation in accreditation visits as a COE team member or leader.

  • Ensures that each program in the department is meeting COE Benchmarks for completion, placement and licensure.

  • Ensures departmental compliance with educational, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

  • Supervises Program Coordinators, Program Leads, and staff. Oversees hiring of Program Coordinators, Program Leads, and staff for assigned programs.

  • Serves on the Student Appeals Committee and serves as a member of the Executive Staff for the college.

  • Attends and presents at MTECH Board Meetings, as requested by the College President.

  • Attends and represents MTECH at meetings, conferences, and other public events, displaying professionalism and integrity.

  • Researches and develops new programs to meet the changing needs of local industry.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS OF THE DIRECTOR, HEALTH PROGRMAS

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field, Master's degree is preferred.

  • Three years' experience teaching adults or high school students.

  • Three years' related management experience.

COMPETENCIES OF THE DIRECTOR, HEALTH PROGRAMS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, school district personnel, or members of the business community. Ability to write letters and articles that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as budgets, wages, percentages, etc., Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to explain ideas, regulations, policies, resolutions, etc. with tolerance and clarity.

Must be able to travel 10- 20% of the time. Will oversee and coordinate programs by visiting all areas of the region to communicate with students, instructors, college administration, employer advisors, school district personnel, and university partners
