Role Summary

Currently we are recruiting for a Director of Procurement to be based at our offices in Miramar, Florida. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Global Supply Chain. Responsible for timely execution of all our operational procurement related activities and actions and to work with the quality manger to develop and implement purchasing work instructions, policies, and procedures. To understand the market conditions, merchandise costs, limiting supply availability or sources. A director who understands the build, to print procurement, raw materials, production processes, quality controls, and cost elements. (NRE, wrap rate, etc.) from start to finish. Industry knowledge and background experience of within the aerospace, marine or land.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP/MRP system and its use to schedule parts, tooling, production, shipping/receiving of products.

  • High level communicator and senior collaborator within our internal stake holders who can clearly articulate results and needs across all levels

  • The ability to operate with an understanding of urgency and ownership.

  • To understand the use of techniques for effective control of delivered quality, cost, and schedule in the manufacture of Certified Aerospace Products and components, Maritime and Land SatComm products and systems.

  • Practical application of project management, engineering and manufacturing including communication techniques, production procedures, and resources relevant to the Aerospace/Marine/Land products

  • Knowledge of management principles involved in strategic sourcing, commodity strategies, planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocation; corporate and human resource policies and benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods.

  • Considers costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one

  • Familiar with lean manufacturing practices including 5-S, Visual Controls, Standard Work, work centre KPS's / metrics, and continuous improvement processes and able to instruct others in these practices

  • Motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, identifying the best people and talent for the roles.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

  • Maintains and review planning sheets for alignment and Customer Required Dates (CRD) and other records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product performance, and inventories, and update as necessary throughout the purchasing process.

  • Supervise and direct the activities of remote and local purchasing agents.

  • Prepare and processes purchase orders for supplies, equipment, and services, including contacting suppliers to place the orders.

  • Manages the Supply Chain process from customer purchase order to final product delivery to customers.

  • Work with AP to ensure timely payment of suppliers.

  • Supports an efficient inventory program with optimization of stock levels at different locations.

  • Work with Program Management Office, Go to Market / Sales and Requirements Planning function on project bills of materials, suppliers, ordering status, and other purchasing information for new projects ensure completeness and thoroughness.

  • Review current suppliers used and evaluate customer service and quality performance.

  • Research new suppliers of materials, equipment, supplies, or services and evaluate each to determine product availability, quality standards, and terms of sales.

  • Work with operations to investigate and resolve supplier or contractor grievances or claims against suppliers.

  • Champion the quality management system and promote the quality culture; address and correct quality non-compliance, based on root-cause analysis.

  • Provide leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices.

  • Develop and implement processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, continual process improvement

  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, particularly in aerospace and government contract work.


  • Bachelor's degree

  • Six Sigma greenbelt or higher certification or Lean Expert certification

  • Proven experience within a purchasing position ideally within aerospace and defence industry.

  • Advanced Degree and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional.

  • Understanding of ISO 9100 and AS9100 Quality Standards and requirements

  • . A comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance Engineering and practices applicable to the manufacture of aerospace products including regulatory, military, commercial, and industry/customer standards (e.g., ISO9000, and AS9001)

  • Proven experience of previous leadership and managerial experience in the supply chain, manufacturing operations, change management, materials management, sourcing and procurement SIOP industries.

  • The candidate must have applicable and detailed work experience or managerial experience in least 4 of the 5 following areas:

  • Manufacturing/Assembly Operations

  • Quality, Engineering (Design or Manufacturing)

  • Planning (Forecasting, Demand Mgt, Capacity)

  • Program Management

  • Materials / Procurement.

  • Advanced interpersonal skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively and maintain credibility with customers, suppliers, and across all levels in the business.

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills (Verbal and Written)

  • High level of proficiency with technology; including Microsoft Office (Excel), Oracle ERP/MRP systems, and SharePoint, in a manufacturing environment.
