Responsible for leading public relations and consumer engagement efforts for high-profile integrated accounts. This position will work on multiple accounts and is responsible for providing strategic public relations counsel that delivers impactful results. The ideal candidate must possess a broad understanding and working knowledge of public relations, social media, partnership development, engagement marketing & events, and advertising.

Key Responsibilities include:
Lead the development and management of integrated public relations, social media and consumer engagement programs for a wide variety of high-profile local, regional and national clients.
Provide strategic counsel to both internal teams and clients on public relations, social media, and consumer engagement strategies, activities and tactics.
Lead proactive media relations efforts for all accounts across all media platforms.
Arrange, coordinate and manage media requests and interviews, with the support of team Managers and Associate Managers.
Rely on existing relationships, as well as develop and cultivate new relationships on behalf of clients and the agency.
Supervise management of media monitoring, tracking and reporting for all programs.
Lead and work closely with the project teams to develop innovative ideas and campaigns.
Serve as the day-to-day client contact, project and budget manager, managing upwards of $1 million in fee-based work.
Successfully lead a team of up to 8 people on projects and supervise 2-3 direct reports.
Create and manage project plans, including project objectives, details budgets, timelines and logistics from start to finish.
Grow existing portfolio of client business, as well as proactively identify new business opportunities, assisting with efforts to secure new business.

Essential Skills include:
Client Service:
Experience in facilitating client meetings, and cultivating strong agency/client relationships.

Media Relations:
Established editor, reporter and blogger relationships; working knowledge of media channels; crisis communications experience; and proven recent experience placing stories with long- and short-lead media at the national, regional and local levels.
Ability to quickly and creatively develop a wide range of materials including news releases, op-eds, key messages, talking points and media pitches consistent with AP style and brand voice.
Experience working with media database, newswires and media monitoring vendors preferred.

Social Media:
Strong working knowledge of social media channels and trends.
Proven experience in developing successful social media strategy across multiple channels.
Proven experience working with and integrating social media strategies and tactics into all aspects of public relations and consumer engagement efforts, including contests and promotions.

Planning & Project Management:
Proven success in planning and implementing high-profile media and promotional events, including development of plans with clearly stated goals, measurable objectives, strategies, tactics, timelines, budgets, event run-of-show/scripting, and on-site project management.
Excellent organization and prioritization skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, delegate and apply resources effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Experience in working with Creative teams including development of creative briefs and project management.

Communication:
Excellent written communication skills, including client correspondence, program recaps/case studies, presentations and new business pitches.
Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to present ideas effectively and communicate with clients, media, vendors and others on the phone, via email and in person (one-on-one, small working groups and presentations).
Ability to explain and persuade the client regarding the rationale of particular campaign strategies and tactics.

Calm under pressure, with an ability to deliver work on time, on budget, and as promised.

Strong Seattle community knowledge and established contacts.

Through groundbreaking initiatives, the SEIU 775 Benefits Group, together with its union and employer partners, are ensuring that Washington state home care workers have access to the skills and support they need to stay and grow in the field. Position Summary Reporting to Executive Leadership, the Government and Community Relations Director will develop and execute a robust policy and engagement program for the Training Partnership, the Health Benefits Trust and the Secure Retirement Trust. This position will develop strategies for engaging relevant stakeholders and Federal and State public officials through ongoing outreach and strategic engagement. You Will: * Develop and lead an overall strategic policy and engagement program with governmental and community partners to increase awareness and support for the work of the Trusts * Work with internal and external stakeholders, government and community partners and others to understand their needs within the legislative environment * Manage Benefits Group legislative and regulatory activities related to issues impacting workforce development, a secure retirement for workers, health (including behavioral health), and potentially other prevention and public health related issues. * Organize meetings with state and federal elected officials, organizing tours, and training key staff on relevant public policy issues * Cultivate relationships with key figures and decision makers in Washington including (but not limited to) members of state legislature, staff of health care authority, and allied health care interests who have similar goals of shaping policy that will impact the delivery of excellent healthcare to those in need * Represent the Benefits Group in regional venues and with regional stakeholders, and advise on strategic engagement * Develop and implement an engagement strategy with state, local and regional representatives * Ensure consistency of message and approach related to external engagement in support of the Benefits Group's mission, services and initiatives * Organize and attend relevant legislative, executive and agency meetings, hearings, issue briefings and related activities to advance Benefits Group agenda * Work with the Communications team on relevant reports and products, helping to craft the content with regard to legislative, programmatic and/or policy recommendations and providing information on key relevant government programs, policies and funding * Track and analyze relevant state and federal policy and create internal briefing documents to inform decision making * Develop and implement an ongoing government relations strategic plan to inform external organizations and stakeholders * Develop and implement an annual education program for elected officials * Build sustained relationships with community groups, consumer, and worker advocacy groups, and other aligned organizations * Collaborate within the organization on external messaging to inform on matters of interest to legislators, policy-makers and community groups You Have: * 5 + years of experience in advocacy, government, and/or community relations, or related field preferred; relationships with state or federal policy makers is a plus * Knowledge of health care issues and policies (long-term care is a plus,) workforce development, retirement or related field * Knowledge of Washington State's legislative, budget, and policy development processes, including budget and appropriations processes * A strong ability to communicate our organizational priorities to elected officials and stakeholder groups * A strong and demonstrated ability to articulate strategic judgement about engagement with elected officials, political staff, and key stakeholders * Willingness to learn in-depth about policy issues related to healthcare, workforce development, retirement, labor, long-term care etc * Strong interpersonal and communication skills in relationship-building to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community * Ability to understand complex nuance and operate effectively and strategically in shades of gray * Ability to use sound independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of internal and external organizations and constituencies * Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment where team work is valued * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group presentations and one-on-one advocacy skills * Demonstrated ability in strategy development, political communications, and working with coalitions * A creative mind and ability to synthesize and analyze information for decision makers * Ability to work in an autonomous and dynamic environment * A strong sense of accountability with excellent follow through * Excellent organization skills including ability to manage multiple projects and set priorities * Willingness to travel to Olympia and Washington DC and work long and irregular hours as needed Compensation: $105,000-$120,000 annualized, plus an exceptional benefits package.
