Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Plans, conducts and supervises assignments, generally involving larger and more important proposals or multiple proposals. Evaluates and determines changes in methods or procedures in assigned area of responsibility. Determines candidates for employment/termination, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff and is responsible for the application of company policies and the development and maintenance of company pricing policies.

  • Manages the pricing function and performs cRequest for Proposal (RFP) analysis, proposal preparation; and customer contact related to contract the acquisition process.

  • Develops Price to Win (PTW) bidding strategies for all new business and recompete procurement proposal efforts.

  • Responsible for the preparation of pricing for all new business proposals, and the review of all change proposals, and task orders quotes.

  • Is highly familiar with the requirements for developing proposals for all contract types including but not limited to, fixed price, cost type, time and materials, and IDIQ multiple award contracts.

  • Provides in-depth knowledge of FAR/DFAR and other applicable government regulations; reviews and approves Request for Proposal (RFP) and proposal documents to ensure compliance with all of the company's pricing policies, s

  • Ensures company-wide estimating system compliance, as well as advises management of pricing rights/obligations and provides interpretation of RFP requirements. Represents the Company as a prime internal and external contact on all in-process and active proposals.

  • Reviews complex solicitations and prepares specialized and/or non-routine response for proposals, bids, and contract modifications.

  • Provides guidance and direction to Pricing/Financial Analyst team members in the development of pricing proposal responses.

  • Provides transition support in the startup of both new business and recompete contracts.

  • Working with contracts, develops negotiation strategy and supports/leads negotiation team on contractual issues.

  • Establishes pricing policies/processes and oversees the work of subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's with 10 - 12 years of experience or a master's with 8 - 10 years of experience.

  • At least 4 years in a supervisory capacity.

Responsibilities: : Primary responsibility will be reporting on trading activity in the US aluminum market, including sharing pricing information in real time, identifying and writing news stories during the course of coverage and assessing markets based on physical bids, offers and traded information in line with our published methodology. Writing commentaries explaining the trends driving prices and the reason why we have assessed the price where we have is a part of the daily process. Secondary responsibilities will include managing and building our database of contacts, identifying opportunities to improve our methodology or launch new assessments and representing Platts at industry events such as conferences or in face-to-face meetings -- further establishing Platts as a significant presence in the aluminum commodity space. The candidate also will have opportunities to present at conferences, conduct webinars and podcasts or other interviews. There will also be exposure to and development in analytics of pricing and supply/demand trends. Accountability includes: * Gathers, verifies and publishes commodity price information, produces price assessments and submits clear written work. * Reports and writes daily news analysis/feature stories * Develops and expands coverage of aluminum sector * Develops, expands and maintains sources and contacts relevant to the market area of coverage What We're Looking For: The successful candidate will ideally have knowledge of price information and market intelligence gathering activities and be comfortable with numbers and writing of both news and pricing information. Basic Qualifications: * A 4-year degree is required or equivalent work experience (new graduates will be considered with appropriate skills training) * 1-3 years of reporting/writing/analytical experience is preferred * Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across a wide range of groups and personalities, internally and externally * Clear, concise writing style, strong copy editing skills * Ability to effectively develop price reporting coverage in the region * Possess energy, tenacity and ambition to excel in a fast-paced news environment and foster that culture throughout our team * Proven analytical ability and comfortable handling numbers * Understands basic math, economics and statistics principles. Ability to apply basic math functions in Excel. * Excellent English writing skills, preferably with prior training in journalism. * Experience of commodity markets would be a plus, but not essential.
