TITLE: Director of PreK-12 Humanities
The position of Director of PreK-12 Humanities is a vital leadership position in the Victor Central School District. The individual filling this District-wide position will, in conjunction with other staff members, provide leadership and direction in the general supervision, administration, and coordination of PreK-12 instruction in the areas of English, Social Studies, World Language and Visual Arts. The ultimate goal for this position is to plan, direct, facilitate, and provide leadership in working with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction and other administrators and teaching staff in developing and maintaining the highest quality educational program in specific assigned areas.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent for Instruction
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Hold New York State School District Leader certification or equivalent.
2.Hold New York State Literacy and/or Elementary certification.
3.Demonstrated experience in literacy instruction.
4.Deep understanding of New York State P-12 Next Generation ELA learning standards
and K-12 Social Studies framework.
5.Deep understanding of New York State Professional Development Standards.
6.Deep understanding of highly effective Response to Intervention practices at all levels.
7.Have completed a minimum of five years of successful classroom teaching with
additional administrative experience.
8.Experience in curriculum revision and the instructional supervision process.
SUPERVISES: PreK-12 ELA, Social Studies, World Language and Visual Art curriculum, instruction, and assessment planning and practices; District professional learning; ELA Coaches; and Reading Interventionists.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum and Instruction
Supervises and directs the instruction of students in respective departments and services.
Supervises the planning, design, development, and implementation of curriculum in respective departments and services.
Supervises instruction in the classroom to ensure alignment with the New York State standards and Victor Central School PreK-12 curriculum.
Staff and Student Supervision
Assists the PreK-12 school administration in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating qualified teachers for respective departments and services.
Conducts observations/evaluations of relative staff.
Maintain Data Security as applicable.
Maintain confidentiality with staff, student, and family information.
Fiscal Management
Building/Department Management
Identifies district-wide ELA, Social Studies, World Language and Visual Arts priorities and goals in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, and works with Principals, Coaches, Teacher Leaders, and teachers to implement these priorities and goals.
Assumes a leadership role in the evaluation and improvement of ELA, Social Studies, World Language and Visual Arts programs.
Coordinates the ENL program, collaborating with Building Administrators, Teacher Leaders and teachers.
Works with Principals, Coaches, Teacher Leaders, and teachers to identify program needs.
Supervises the operations on a day-to-day basis of all respective programs, departments, and services.
Monitors the effectiveness of each program through formal and informal assessment tools and data analysis.
Works with various members of the central administrative staff on school/student needs.
Public Relations
Organizes and disseminates information and publications to students, parents, community, and the schools for the purpose of promoting respective departments, programs, and services.
Represents respective departments in matters concerning the public and/or other school districts.
Acts as a liaison to parents and parent groups concerning issues with respective departments, programs, and services, in collaboration with building and district administration and other staff.
Works collaboratively with surrounding districts on area initiatives
Professional Growth
Assumes leadership in developing and implementing needed professional learning opportunities in the District.
Coordinates professional development opportunities for all respective departments in collaboration with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction as well as the PreK-12 Director of Science and Mathematics.
Collaborates with the administrative team to plan and implement contractual professional development, annual district conference days and New Educator Orientation.
Provide oversight and administrative support to the In-service credit and Teacher Award programs.
District Level Administrative Duties
Attends Board of Education meetings and executive sessions as required.
Coordinates, in conjunction with the PreK-12 Director of Science and Mathematics, academic intervention programs, including benchmark screening assessment delivery processes, data analysis, goal setting and recommendation processes.
Organizes and coordinates integrated and comprehensive program or standardized testing for the District in collaboration with the PreK-12 Director of Science and Mathematics.
Coordinates Summer Academic Intervention programs, in collaboration with the PreK-12 Director of Science and Mathematics.
Assumes such other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent of Schools or their designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The position of Director of PreK-12 Humanities is a twelve-month administrative position. The terms established in accordance with the contract between the Superintendent of Schools and the Victor Administrators and Supervisors Association.
EVALUATION:
Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.
SALARY:
Minimum starting salary $105,000 (Negotiable based on experience) Competitive benefits package per VASA contract
