If you want a position that will challenge you to be your best, look no further! We are looking for a Director of Preconstruction to join our dynamic culture at Rockford Construction. In this role, you will lead and manage the Preconstruction Team and develop strategies that support Rockfords brand, vision, and committee to excellent client service. As the Director of Preconstruction, you will lead a team of estimators, preconstruction managers, calculate costs for various projects, work closely with project managers, market leaders, clients and trade contractors. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collecting, analyzing data and forecasting.

You must have great attention to detail along with great people skills and have excellent communication and negotiating skills. Responsibilities include establishing/overseeing a project pre-construction plan in coordination with a Project Executive including all estimating, downstream pricing, buy out strategies, deliverables scope and dates, sample deliverables, staffing requirements and other activities to insure a smooth process leading to a "no-surprises" GMP.

You must have:

  • Proven experience as a construction estimator (minimum of five years (5) commercial construction experience)
  • Understanding of construction procedures, materials and project delivery methods
  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial construction ranging in costs from $1 Million - $100 Million
  • Ability to read and understand project plans and specifications at all levels of design
  • Ability to create conceptual, schematic design (SD), design development (DD) and construction document (CD) budgets and estimates
  • Basic understanding of accounting and project management concepts
  • Ability to perform quantity take-off estimates for all trades involved in the specific project
  • Utilize estimating software On Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam
  • Successful value engineering experience
  • Hard bid project assembly experience
  • Great attention to detail
  • Deep understanding of research methodology, data analysis and estimation metrics
  • Outstanding oral and written communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience with managing people and expectations

Bonus points for:

  • Field operations experience (carpenter, foreman, subcontractor, etc)
  • Experience/Good working knowledge of On Screen Takeoff (OST)
  • Knowledge of CSI
  • Experience estimating multiple types of construction projects
  • Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or other qualification
  • Experience with BIM

They will assist, teach and mentor in root cause identification and permanent systemic corrective actions. As a member of the corporate quality team the Quality Director will be an active participant in the development and execution of the quality department strategic plan and global collaboration. RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible to participate in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Magna Mirrors (MM) Global Quality Management System that complies with customer and industry quality system requirements within the existing corporate culture. * The position has a broad scope of responsibility in the quality arena with focused accountability in customer portal, internal data analysis and KPI achievement. * Represents Magna Mirrors Quality discipline at Magna Corporate and MCM Group Meetings. * Attend OEM customer Supplier Quality Roundtable Meetings. Gathers new quality initiative information presented by the customer, publish meeting minutes and share information within the Group and all other Magna Groups. * Will foster an environment and lead decision making that results in collaboration and action from key stakeholders including the customer, divisions, group functional leads and the group head office. * Will aid in aligning organizational and customer goals and provide leadership in a way that increases and promotes continuous improvement of the company. * Participates in OEM quality workshops, representing Magna, providing input to OEM process improvement activities. Publishes meeting minutes and distributes throughout all Magna Groups. * Interface with customer quality representatives concerning problems with product quality and assure and verify that effective corrective actions are implemented. Support manufacturing plants in resolution of customer quality problems. * Analyze data and create proposals and feasible action plans to identify future risks and correct negative trends. Use analysis to initiate improvement projects at manufacturing sites. * Support IATF 16949 compliance and audit readiness at manufacturing plants. Participate in internal and external quality audits, as requested. * Work with MM plants to ensure quality system implementation and continuous improvement. Participates in improvement initiatives/projects to improve data tracking and performance monitoring. Tracks the improvement and initiates countermeasures if progress does not meet expectations. Ensures read across of lessons learned and best practices. * Promote a culture focused on actionable ways to identify and reduce cost of poor quality through continuous improvement in the manufacturing plants. * Oversee current and future work-load. Works with divisional leadership to ensure the necessary level of resources are available to support the work load. * Develops and executes long-term progressive strategy to ensure the Quality function becomes increasingly proactive in addressing MM manufacturing plant performance issues. * Supports monthly program reviews and new program gate reviews as an expert in QMS standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), change management processes, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Internal Audit, Management Review, Safe Launch Planning etc. * Lead regional Quality Manager meetings that promote teamwork, team building, and knowledge sharing among group and across regions. * Participate in the onboarding process for new key quality personnel. Provide functional or technical guidance and/or direction or instruction to all Quality Managers in all aspects of their role within the MM Expectations. * Prepare, review and provide performance appraisal input to division leadership. Ensures confidentiality of all personnel data is strictly maintained. * Financial and operational knowledge, as well as knowledge of regulations, policies and procedures that affect the company. REQUIREMENTS * A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field is required, 15+ years of experience in quality assurance roles, including experience as a Plant Quality Manager in a manufacturing environment. * Certification as a Quality Engineer, Quality Manager or Quality Auditor through ASQ or equivalent is preferred. Working knowledge of automotive industry quality management standards (VDA, AIAG-APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, etc.). * Self-starting, strong leader with excellent communication skills that have resulted in a successful track record of accomplishment. * Drive, intelligence, and high personal expectations of getting results both individually and as part of a team. Ability to lead by example, through influence and collaboration is essential. * High level of interpersonal and leadership skills with capability to influence, coach, mentor, and partner across multiple levels of an organization. * Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Share Point, etc. * Valid Driver's License required.
