Director of Perioperative Informatics
UT Health San Antonio, Joe R. and Theresa Lozano Long School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesiology is seeking a PhD industrial engineer data scientist or an experienced master's industrial engineer to work in an academic vertically integrated health care setting. The goals of this position are to improve patient care, optimize operating room and perioperative processes, and support our education and research missions. Academic rank and compensation are commensurate with experience, credentials and references.
Expectations for the position are as follows:
Work with department leadership and University Hospital System (UHS) cross-functional teams to transform data from diverse sources into actionable information that supports strategic improvements in the operating room (OR), non-OR procedure areas and our preoperative evaluation process.
Design and implement statistical modeling that supports process improvements in our perioperative processes that optimize quality, decrease costs and improve workflow.
Create a team of data analysts that is aligned with our mission at UHS and the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine.
Analyze patient outcome measures to support our population health initiatives.
Establish a collaborative relationship with senior leadership and frontline employees at UHS and the UT Health San Antonio Long School of Medicine.
Participate in the department's education and research mission. This will involve occasional teaching of medical anesthesia residents, fellows and faculty.
Support the UT Health Informatics Fellowship. This will involve including fellows in on-going projects.
Attain subject matter expertise with Epic electronic health record and other data systems at UT Health San Antonio and UHS.
Establish a collaborative relationship with the UT Health San Antonio Clinical Informatics Research Division (CIRD)
