The position reports to the Chief Medical Officer at Central Vermont Medical Center. The Director of Performance Improvement (PI) oversees the departmental functions of PI in the organization. These include continuous quality improvement (CQI), regulatory readiness, patient safety, infection prevention, quality measure reporting and data analysis. The Director oversees the Performance Improvement and Patient Safety Program by systematically monitoring and evaluating the quality and appropriateness of patient care and facilitates opportunities to improve patient care and services. The Director is part of a system-wide Quality/Performance Improvement cohort and is actively involved in cross organizational teams to ensure continuous improvement in the performance of systems that support patient care and operations.
Education/Knowledge Base:
Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred; bachelor's degree required.
Lean Six Sigma experience and certification preferred.
Strong understanding of performance improvement methodologies including, but not limited to, PDSA cycles and Change Management required.
CPHQ certification required within 6 months of hire.
Experience:
Minimum five years progressive clinical and/or administrative experience in a hospital with quality and performance improvement focus.
Two years prior supervisory or management experience in a related healthcare field.
Licensure/Certification: Current clinical license in state where currently practicing preferred.
