DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

The Director of People & Culture is a key member of the Culture team and assists in fulfilling the Museum's mission - to honor the artists whose music connects us all. In this critical role, they champion our values, nurture our team, and foster an environment where every individual can thrive. This role requires an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about cultivating a positive workplace culture that empowers employees to excel. Passion for rock and roll and related music genres is essential.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

CULTURE & ENGAGEMENT

  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance organizational culture, aligning it with our core values and mission.

  • Foster a sense of belonging and camaraderie among employees through innovative programs and events.

  • In partnership with our DEAI Champion, lead initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that our workplace reflects and respects the diversity of our community.

  • Actively listen to employee feedback and concerns, implementing solutions to address issues, improve morale, and boost engagement.

  • Create opportunities for professional growth and development, supporting employees in reaching their full potential.

  • Prioritize employee well-being by promoting work-life balance, mental health awareness, and stress management.

RECRUIT & REWARD

  • Lead the staffing efforts to build a strong workforce by having a deep understanding of the organization's needs and values and how they intersect with potential employees.

  • Work in conjunction with department heads to identify job skills needed.

  • Ensure the recruitment and selection process is unbiased and results in a diverse workforce.

COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION

  • Serve as a bridge between leadership and employees, ensuring transparent communication and alignment of goals.

  • Collaborate with department heads to integrate culture initiatives into their respective teams, fostering a cohesive and supportive work environment.

  • Monitor and ensure the fair treatment of employees, answer questions and resolve issues from staff concerning employment related issues.

  • Investigate and resolve complaints, address the subject of complaint and parties involved and respond to appropriate parties.

  • Ensure employee information and employment policies and procedures changes are disseminated in an accurate, informative and timely manner.

  • Maintain appropriate level of confidentiality of all employees.

  • Coordinate and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.

  • Work directly with department managers to help them carry out their responsibilities on HR matters.

BENEFITS & RETIREMENT

  • Oversee all employee benefit plans including medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance and optional supplemental life insurance, long term disability insurance, and Section 125 flexible spending plan.

  • Oversee the annual open enrollment period and introduction and implementation of new benefit plans. Arrange for distribution of materials from carriers, assist with communicating change to employees and arrange for on-site representation by providers.

  • Respond to employee inquiries on benefit plans/procedures, including medical, dental, life, LTD, sick, vacations, Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA's), and COBRA.

  • Process employee additions, terminations, status and coverage changes and notifies payroll and benefit plan vendors of adjustments and/or changes.

  • Process COBRA forms.

  • Work with benefit plan vendors on customer service problems and assists with claims resolution for employees.

  • Manage the administration of the Rock Hall's 403(b) and 457(b) Retirement Program.  Ensure compliance with Plan rules and regulations.

  • Process loans and in-service withdrawals in accordance with Plan policy.

  • Work annually with auditors on the 403(b) mandated audit, 5500 Reporting, to ensure the Plan is being run correctly and is compliant with IRS and DOL rules.

  • Assist with educating participants on Plan rules and design and answers various inquiries.

PERFORMANCE & COMPENSATION

  • Responsible for managing and implementing the Rock Hall's performance and compensation program.

  • Oversee the Performance Management process.

  • Develops, recommends and manages the Rock Hall policies pertaining to compensation and benefits.

  • Assist in developing annual salary administration guidelines.

  • Assist in determining appropriate adjustments to salary ranges.

  • Research and makes recommendations on salary adjustments.

  • Develop and distributes communications concerning salary changes, classifications adjustments, and title changes associated with annual salary review process.

  • Evaluate new positions for compatibility with established salary structure.

  • Assist with compensation study and salary administration program.

PAYROLL & BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

  • Oversee the payroll specialist - utilizing (ADP Workforce Now); ensures payroll administration meets all laws and regulations, is timely and accurate; ensures timely processing of garnishments, liens, child support, direct deposit, and other payroll related deductions.

  • Responsible for the ADP Time & Attendance system to include the administration of paid leave policy, updates to the configuration when needed, provides support to employees and supervisors as required and applicable training as needed.

  • Proactively communicates, initiates and tracks leave of absences (LOA) to include Family Medical Leave (FMLA), long-term disability (LTD), Americans Disability Act (ADA), and Worker's Comp (WC)

  • Coordinate medical insurance premium payments for FMLA leave.

  • Act as liaison with benefit plan vendors on customer service problems, billing discrepancies and claims for employees. Reviews invoices for accuracy.

POLICY & COMPLIANCE

  • Work with the VP of Culture & Strategy to regularly review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame policies, procedures and practices on personnel matters.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures.

  • Oversee revisions to the employee handbook and policies. Ensure policies are up to date.

  • Communicate changes in Rock Hall policies and procedures and ensure proper compliance.

  • Maintain working knowledge of all union contracts and participate in union negotiations.

  • Maintain familiarity with grievance procedures and administrative matters.

Duties include but may not be limited to the above.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in in Human Relations, Organizational Psychology, Business Administration, or related field. (Master's degree preferred).

  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a track record of successfully shaping organizational culture and driving employee engagement.

  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, with experience implementing initiatives to promote a diverse and inclusive workplace.

Benefits and Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $110,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.

The Rock Hall offers a generous benefits package including 4 plan options for health insurance All other benefits are company paid including dental, vision, and life insurance. Other perks include 403b, and yearly paid time off including: 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3 personal days, 14 paid holidays, and 4 paid volunteer days.
