Director of Oregon Construction Operations: This is where you come in.

We are seeking a Director of Oregon Construction Operations to oversee all production-related activities executed by our construction teams. A critical aspect of this role involves analyzing and interpreting project data to ensure our projects are executed with the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity, thereby ensuring their profitability.

This leader will build and leverage strong relationships with the various unions we are affiliated with in Oregon and the surrounding regions. This position entails direct oversight of all trade-level superintendents and the project management team. The Director must possess an in-depth, working knowledge of the systems and equipment being installed on our projects to effectively guide and support the team.

Additionally, the Director is responsible for ensuring that the core values of MMFS - Safety, Innovation, Dedication, Collaboration, Community, and Fun - are integrated into all daily operations.

This non-union role reports directly to the General Manager, Oregon, with dotted line responsibility to the VP of Operations and VP of Project Management to ensure MMFS standardization and operations across divisions and regions are maintained.

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

Business Leadership:

  • Collaborate with regional and divisional leadership to ensure regional profitability and the financial success of construction projects.
  • Work directly with project managers, executives, superintendents, vendors, and GCs/customers to address and improve underperforming jobs.
  • Manage operations staff, prioritizing company needs and aligning with annual and quarterly strategic goals for safety, quality, and profitability.
  • Prepare and analyze CAPEX with ROI assessments, providing post-project reports to confirm ROI expectations.
  • Participate in the Oregon leadership team, representing construction project management, liaising with sales staff, and implementing process improvements and expansion plans for the Oregon construction division.

Staff Management:

  • Oversee new construction trade General Foremen (GFs), senior project managers, and the special projects operations manager, ensuring they have the necessary support for daily operations.
  • Utilize the EOS system to manage staff and business, ensuring the right people are in lead GF roles and continually developing staff through coaching and delegation.
  • Develop and set target goals for each direct report, measuring their success against annual and long-term targets.
  • Structure and implement onboarding plans for each trade/subgroup, ensuring proper training, interviewing, evaluations, and professional handling of corrective actions and terminations.
  • Support and enforce company policies, procedures, and guidelines, while proactively training key personnel for future supervisory roles to accommodate regional growth.

Construction Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand, and pass the Oregon Contractors Test, ensuring compliance and proficiency in regional regulations.
  • Collaborate with other MMFS leaders to create, adopt, and implement unified and standardized trade-specific operating standards.
  • Identify and develop labor expansion plans for growth in existing and new markets, supporting strategic growth initiatives with the general manager.
  • Maintain working relationships with unions, serve as the primary contact for major union-related issues, and possess comprehensive knowledge of all union contracts in the region.
  • Develop high-level logistical plans to support workflows for various local, regional, and statewide projects. Partner with the safety department to enforce safety practices and proactively remove internal and external roadblocks to support field execution teams.
