To support JMU's and IIHHS' mission and vision to provide outreach programs to the community and quality experiential learning opportunities to JMU students. Chief Objectives:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Blue Ridge Area Health Education Center Community Health Interpreting, Testing, and Training Services (CHITTS) to ensure that established program protocols are carried out in a timely, accurate, comprehensive, and customer friendly manner consistent with JMU's policies while allowing for maximal service provision to the agencies and the patients served. Primary Purpose: 1. Manage daily operations of the Community Health Interpreting, Testing, and Training Services. 2.

Enhance the financial viability of the CHITTS Program through the development, implementation, and maintenance of efficient scheduling, spending, and billing procedures that allow for maximal service provision and minimal expenditures. 3. Ensure a program environment that is customer friendly and responsive to the needs of the community. Duties include: Direct operations (CHITTS, interpreter and translator services, and fiscal management); prepare budget projections and budget reports; supervise all CHITTS support staff, interpreters, and translators; foster and implement continual improvement of CHITTS procedures; resolve staffing issues; recruit and hire for all CHITTS positions including office staff, interpreters, and translators (postings, screenings, interviewing); complete administrative tasks as needed; oversee the maintenance of the BRAHEC website; adhere to JMU's hiring and performance evaluation requirements; collect data and submit data reports as required; assist with contract management and development; maintain cooperative relationships with community partners; communicate and meet regularly with interpreters and translators; and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum of three years office management experience in a health and human services setting.

Experience supervising office/administrative staff. Experience with fiscal management (including budget preparation, budget projections, budget reporting, monitoring expenditures and revenue, etc.). Experience with data collection and report writing. Must possess good oratory, organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills.

Good computer skills required and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience working with or supervising interpreters and translators is a plus. Cross cultural experience is a plus.

Details include: planning and preparing event details, meeting with faculty/staff presenters and service providers to facilitate proper communication and ensure smooth transitions, scheduling staff responsibilities, overseeing evaluating and training of student volunteers, and assessing and refining the programs based on faculty/staff feedback and guest comments. - Be the academic liaison for Admissions events by coordinating academic admissions related events with academic departments within the university. The Assistant Director will also serve as primary the contact between academic departments and the Office of Admissions for admissions related information. - Be a frequent presenter of admissions information sessions as well as meet with walk-in visitors and guests. - Manage an admissions student volunteer group (PAWS). - Manage and oversee a designated recruitment region. Details include managing and overseeing all contact with prospective students, counselors and high school officials from their designated region, as well as reviewing applications and participating in the committee process. - Supervise full-time, part-time and student staff involved in Visitor Relations with all guests. Minimum Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. - Proven record of providing exemplary customer service. - Ability to work some evenings and weekends. - Must possess outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal). - Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate across campus with faculty and staff to implement programs. - Ability to form relationships and partnerships with a varied constituency to facilitate cooperation and ensure successful events and programs. - Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. - Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and leader. - Experience in developing, planning and implementing multi-faceted programs. - Experience recruiting, selecting, and training staff members. - Strong organizational, interpersonal, group facilitation, writing and public speaking skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Master's degree in Higher Education or related field. - Skills and experience in presenting to large, diverse groups of individuals. - Familiarity and experience with audio/visual presentation equipment as well as various types of computer hardware and software used in exhibit settings. - Experience in supervision of non-student staff members. - At least 2 years of Admissions experience. - Experience with People Soft Student Administration. - An understanding of how technology can influence and enhance the goals of higher education.
