Job Description

Summary

The Director of Operations provides leadership and oversight for all Residences' personnel, including Reception/Concierge, Guest Services, Ski Concierge, Housekeeping, Security, Breakfast/Apres and Purchasing/Receiving. Accepts responsibility for the health, safety, and welfare of owners/guests and employees. Accountable with the General Manager for all personnel actions, assets, and Residences' property.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $100,000 to $115,000. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all of our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.

Essential Job Functions

  • Has complete authority, responsibility, and accountability in the absence of the General Manager, unless such authority is expressly denied

  • Develop job descriptions, procedures, and operating standards for all areas under the position's jurisdiction

  • Prepare accounting reports and forecasts as requested

  • Organize seasonal activities for owners and guests

  • Responsible for overall Residence's organization and ensure that each department operates by proper delegation of authority on a set line in the organizational chart

  • Ensure that all personnel related responsibilities (i.e. job descriptions, performance standards, wages, salaries, and performance reviews) are compiled within a timely manner

  • Clearly convey the overall operating philosophy of the Residence's to staff, specifically as it relates to fair and equal treatment of employees, creating an enjoyable, secure work environment, reviewing employee's personal goals and objectives, practicing friendly, sincere management

  • Lead with intellectual and emotional maturity, demonstrating a personal philosophy of life and work habits, practicing positive supervision and observing ethical business practices

  • Conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner, which encourages like manners of conduct

  • Take a visible leadership role with Residences' owners and guests

  • Make General Manager aware of owners/guest's comments and complaints

  • Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner as outlined in the employee handbook

  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the Residences at The Little Nell and Aspen One

  • Is familiar with Residences fire and safety procedures and assists in emergency and security procedures as directed by management

  • Complete tasks and projects delegated by the General Manager and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel experience

  • Significant time working at luxury properties with exceptional service

  • Competent in understanding and interpreting accounting and financial controls

  • Understanding of cost controls and experience in implementing the same

Supervision Given and Received

Given: Exercises general supervision over Reception/Concierge, Guest Services, Ski Concierge, Housekeeping, Security, Breakfast/Apres and Purchasing/Receiving staff. Assigns a variety of routine tasks, sets general expectations of results expected within company's policies and procedures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Received: Works under limited supervision of the General Manager. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to be on your feet, kneel and bend for extended periods of time

  • Regularly work in adverse conditions and requiring the use of protective apparel/equipment to prevent exposure to the elements as well as an office environment and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces

  • Must be able to lift, push or pull occasionally up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance
