Roles &Responsibilities:

The Director of Operations for the CBO providesoverall leadership of day to day billing operations. Develops policies andprocedures that are aligned with the overall direction of the School. Thisindividual cultivates the expertise that exists within billing office byproviding strong leadership and mentoring skills. The Director is responsiblefor ensuring that revenue management techniques and functions are aligned andoptimized to meet or exceed organizational goals, including optimal netcollection ratio, increasing overall collection rate while reducing days inA/R, advancing the effective use of technology, optimizing staff productivity,and minimizing the cost to collect. She/he will be expected to foster effectivecommunication and strong working relationships with the clinicaladministrators, Chairs, physician leads, IT department, and billing staff.

  • Develops strategies and tactics acrossorganization to improve cash collections and the net collection rate

  • Increases compliance with third party contractterms and recovers underpayments, reduces denials and ensures timely andaccurate repayment of credit balances

  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, jobdescriptions and work flow patterns that provide an overall successful revenuecycle operations that is sufficient and appropriate to promote effective,efficient, and compliant operations for all areas of responsibility. Developsboth work output metrics and quality audits that will allow effectivemonitoring of performance

  • Reviews and evaluates records as well asactivities of department that impact the reimbursement process

  • Demonstrates a consistent standard of excellenceto which all areas are expected to perform. Provides routine and effectivefeedback to billing staff and practice staff and recognize improved andsuperior revenue related results

  • Responsible for the development, implementationand management of accurate and timely reports related to billing andcollections

  • Involved in implementation of GE/IDX systemapplications (including custom enhancements) upgrades and conversions to ensuremaximizing work and cash flow

  • Monitors denial and guide practices in reducingdenial rates, particularly the referral and authorization process

  • Ensures that revenue cycle functions areeffectively complying with all governmental, third party and other relatedregulations through overseeing the development and implementation ofoperational policies and procedures

  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Direct reports include Billing Managers.

This position reports directly to the Vice President ofPhysician Revenue Cycle. Work is performed within the context of a complex,interconnected organization and toward achieving annual goals. Requiresdevising new methods or modifying/developing standard procedures to meet theneeds of new condition

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance oraccounting or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.

  • Experience: 10 years effective experience in health care reimbursement, billing,claims processing, departmental operations and contract management, withevidence of strong skills in communications and management. A firmunderstanding of all financial and accounting standards and regulations.Medical School experience preferred, as is a strong background inadministrative leadership

Roles & Responsibilities: * This position will require consistent rotation in various Faculty Practices; flexibility is a must. Must be able to adapt quickly to a growing and changing environment. Greets and establishes first contact with patients. Confirms and updates patient demographics and verifies insurance as necessary to ensure that patients have appropriate insurance for physician they are seeing. Responsibilities may include provides secretarial and clinical support to Physicians & Surgeons in a faculty practice setting. Duties and Responsibilities: * Greet patients either in person or via telephone, enter and update their insurance/demographics in the practice management system * Verifies patients' insurance coverage prior to patient's appointment and advised patient of any insurance referrals or authorizations needed. Prior to patient's arrival or at minimum at time of arrival before visit * Communicate with appropriate staff regarding patient's arrival, and ensure that patient's medical record is available for physician * Process/update HIPAA-related paperwork and other institutional forms as necessary * Collect or retrieve referrals or insurance authorizations for procedures and tests ordered by attending physician * Review status of waiting room on a routine basis and ensure that patients are kept advised of wait times * May enter orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or prepare prescription refill requests on behalf of the physician for the review and approval by the ordering physician * Ensures that patient has paid co-pay or collects co-pay under direction of billing staff, providing patient with receipt following established cash-control processes * May schedule surgeries/procedures or work in conjunction with Surgical Coordinator verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admissions and consent forms as necessary * May schedule patient for follow-up appointment as needed. Provide patient with guidelines for requesting medical records, if necessary * May perform simple charge entry tasks or enter payments collected from patients and prepare Cashier's deposit. Note: duties are mutually exclusive and may not be performed by the same employee * Answer phones for practice and schedule appointments, Take detailed clinical phone messages for physician or advanced allied healthcare provider * Follow all HIPAA and any other governmental or state agency requirements regarding the appropriate handling of PHI documents * May initiate reminder phones calls for next day appointments. Help direct patient flow during practice hours * Performs other related duties Requirements: * This position will require consistent rotation in various Faculty Practices; flexibility is a must. Must be able to adapt quickly to a growing and changing environment. * High School graduate/GED * Must have a minimum 6 weeks training on-site which will be provided by FPA practice * Prefer experience in a medical office setting, utilizing a computer system for physician scheduling * Qualifications for Candidates include but are not limited to the following: * Ability to communicate effectively with multicultural and language-deficit patients * Effective interpersonal and communications skills required.
