Operations, Physician Practices- Executive Leadership

The Director of Operations directs practice management activities for HealthTexas Provider Network (HTPN) to include operations for all aspects of assigned physician practices. This role reports to the Vice President, Operations and serves as a liaison with HTPN corporate departments, Baylor Scott and White Health departments, and outside parties. Key responsibilities include:

  • Improves organizational performance by identifying opportunities for operational improvement and establishes/recommends processes for operational excellence.

  • Monitors the overall financial performance and physician compensation of assigned practices to ensure fiscal soundness through revenue growth and cost containment strategies.

  • Maintains effective communication with assigned practices and provides assistance with contractual, compensation, operational, human resource, financial, and other practice management needs.

  • Develops and monitors systems to achieve customer satisfaction and quality patient care.

  • Develops and achieves strategic long- and short-term goals for HTPN in consultation with CAO, COO, and Physician Board.
  • Oversees the development of recruitment and growth plans for assigned practices and ensures smooth integration of new physicians and practices into HTPN practice operations.

  • Coaches and develops direct reports to build and maintain a highly competent and professional physician practice management team, capable of delivering exceptional service that meets business requirements.

  • Provides collaborative advice in a supportive but direction setting manner. Thinks strategically but able to provide hands-on guidance in the tactical, day to day activities, leading to sound recommendations and best practice outcomes. Leads employees through the change process by providing direction for successful performance during times of transition.

  • Bachelors Required; Master's degree highly preferred, specifically MBA or MHA

  • 8 years of experience in managing multi-specialty or primary care practices with 10 or more practices in scope of authority and progressive leadership responsibility

  • 5 to 8 years of experience in managing profit and loss statements, capital expenditures, and practice budgets in excess of $35 million.

  • Stellar interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to all levels of practice staff and operational partners

  • Participation in professional organizations and pursuit of additional certifications such as AMGA , MGMA , or FACMPE a plus

Manage company safety program for the region, and development of company procedures by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. All work is to be completed with minimum supervision and in accordance with Company standards. Other duties may be assigned. Operations Management responsibilities: * Assist in the development and maintenances of operations business plans to include all program requirements, personnel productivity and efficiency, inventory management, distribution costs, and image. * Provide input to the development of product strategy and new and emerging products. * Identify new technology or "Best Practices" aimed toward improving customer satisfaction and efficiency. * Assist with distribution, inventory and quality control standards. * Provide guidance to the development of an Operations process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility and equipment needs. * Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met. * Coordinate regional Operations activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum product distribution and utilization of human resources, and equipment. * Review distribution, inventory and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent product distribution delays. * Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of operations, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports and budgets * Determine responsibilities of assigned organization and staff positions to accomplish business objectives. * Train and ensure all assigned employees are aware of and comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations. * Acts as backup, provides relief and fills in for Branch Operations Managers as needed. Safety Responsibilities: * Implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations. * Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials. * Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. * Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. * Assists in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations. * Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. * Assist in maintaining safety files and records. Supervisory Responsibilities: Indirectly supervises Branch Operations Managers and staff. Assist with interviewing, hiring, and training employees and auditing of processes and procedures to ensure compliance. Travel: Ability to travel 50% of the time.
