Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Manager Due Diligence assists Risk Management with operational manager due diligence and risk monitoring initiatives with a special emphasis on operational, background and document reviews. Responsibilities include analytical projects, process improvements, market research, and providing an emphasis on operational risk assessment through management interviews and extensive analysis of fraud potential and related compliance.

The incumbent will participate in broader portfolio risk monitoring and data analysis. In addition, the Dir of Manager Due Diligence will assist with client and operations projects.


He/She must have an MBA, or equivalent experience. Three to five years previous experience within an investment firm preferred.

Time management, project management, and organizational skills are essential. In addition strong communication skills, analytical skills, and computer skills; proficiency in MS applications are a must. He/She must have the ability to multi-task with attention to detail and deadlines; work independently as well as collaborate effectively in team structure. Some travel required.

Qualified candidates must possess excellent quantitative, qualitative and interpersonal skills. The Summer Intern's primary responsibilities include: Essential Internship Functions: * Assist the Operational Due Diligence team with creating processes and procedures as well as tools that facilitate the Operational Due Diligence team's ability to analyze historical trends of private markets' operational models * Work with the Managing Director of the team to create a weekly pipeline report, to develop a more robust Key Performance Indicator paradigm, and to make the overall reporting process more efficient, including participating in a current project of combining two databases * Handle data requests for Business Development purposes, using a combination of database tools * Contribute to and help to ensure integrity/consistency of data in StepStone's database from a variety of sources * Help identify, classify and record third parties of investment managers into StepStone's proprietary database * Develop a general understanding of service providers and systems used within private market investments * Perform ad hoc analysis using proprietary and third party databases to be used across StepStone's operational due diligence process Qualifications: * Pursuing BA/BS and are interested in and want to contribute to how team and business infrastructure are built * Demonstrated track record of academic success * An advanced proficiency with Excel will be required * MySQL or other database experience a plus * Willingness and ability to learn and implement new programs and processes * Team player * Flexibility—StepStone is a dynamic and entrepreneurial organization; all professionals are expected to perform multiple functions Stepstone New York NY
