Spring Harbor Hospital a division of Maine Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a Director of Nursing - Nursing Adult Services. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall direction and management of adult services.
Spring Harbor Hospital devotes sixty beds to the treatment of adults who experience acute psychiatric illness and co-occurring chemical dependency. Our treatment program emphasizes return-to-work strategies and cognitive therapies to help patients make the smoothest possible transition from the hospital to the community in the shortest possible time.
Our caregiving team includes a psychiatrist, psychiatric nurses, social workers, and technicians who specialize in the treatment of major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and co-occurring disorders. Average length of stay for adult patients is approximately seven days, and discharge planners assist in securing timely and appropriate aftercare services.
Position Summary
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Master's degree in Nursing or related field preferred; Bachelor's or Associate's degree plus experience required
License/Certifications: Licensed in the State of Maine as an RN required with ANCC certification preferred
Experience: 5+ years or clinical experience working with a board spectrum of mentally ill clients preferred; 3+ years of prior management experience required
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural variables and respect for diversity
Able to conceptualize the big picture plan strategically
Thorough knowledge of program and organization requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to express ideas and plans effectively both verbally and in writing
Able to assimilate and analyze significant and complex data and statistics and to make relevant and realistic recommendations
Able to train, coach, counsel, delegate and appraise staff and performance, and develop staff for future leadership opportunities
Demonstrate commitment to the health and human services profession
Able to provide professional leadership
Skilled in the selection and appraisal of personnel
Demonstrate the ability to participate in budget development and management
Able to effectively support staff by transmitting technical knowledge and skills, teaching work management and communication skills, facilitating conflict management, and supporting managers in financial management and accountability
Demonstrate competence and exhibit strong leadership skills including, change management, flexibility and organizational skills
