The Director of Nursing is responsible for the development and maintenance of nursing service objective and standards of nursing practice. Has administrative authority, responsibility and accountability for functions, activities and training of nursing staff.
Is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of care delivery systems. Orients, instructs and supervises personnel and functions. Coordinates nursing services with other departments.
Maintains supplies and adequate equipment. Maintains compliance with Federal, State and local standards and regulations to assure quality outcome of care.
Oversees the entire RAI process, coordinates and maintains the MDS and care planning process, attends or conducts patient care conferences, maintains and implements total nursing care of patients, orients, instructs and supervises personnel and functions, accompanies physicians when attending patients, meets with the pharmaceutical consultant routinely, responsible for staffing and efficiency of the nursing department, works with budget as outlined by Administrator, meets with sales representatives, delegates and oversees inventories, orders and maintains supplies and equipment for the Nursing Department.
Must be a Registered Nurse, currently licensed by the State of Minnesota, who has training in rehabilitation nursing, gerontology, nursing service administration, management, supervision and psychiatric or geriatric nursing before or within the first twelve (12) months after appointment as Director of Nursing Services. Must be employed full time, no less than 35 hours per week, and be assigned full time to the nursing services of the nursing home.
Must possess the ability to communicate verbally and in writing when directing the care of residents. Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Must qualify for employment, after criminal background study, per guidelines of Minnesota Department of Human Services.
