Westminster at Lake Ridge is a premier Continuing Care Retirement Community serving older adults in three levels of service: Independent Living, Assisted Living, and a Health Center. Our team of roughly 270 total employees serves a population of over 400 total residents on 62 acres that back up to the Occoquan reservoir. Job Requirements:
Registered Nurse, seven (7) to ten (10) years long-term care nursing experience with Registered Nurse license required; or equivalent combination of education and experience, MSN preferred. Incumbent should be able to analyze information received and lead staff to achieve positive outcomes for residents, possess high-quality verbal and written communication ability, strong interpersonal and leadership skills, and be knowledgeable of nursing principles and state and federal health regulations. Must be proficient in the operation of computer applications. Must maintain Infection Preventionist Certification as required.
Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible directing the overall operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with current state and federal regulations. Additional duties include overseeing scheduling of staff, budget proposal, and supervisory roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervises the delivery of all nursing operations and functions of Health Center on a daily basis and ensures effective and efficient resident care.
Develop and maintain (1) nursing service objectives (2) standards of practice (3) policy and procedure manuals and (4) job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel.
Working with the MDS to assure that the comprehensive plan of care is maintained in conjunction with other disciplines.
Performs administrative duties such as completing necessary medical forms or reviews, charts, and studies.
Determines the staffing requirements necessary to meet federal, state and jurisdictional guidelines. Forecasts resident admission and needs numbers to properly estimate staffing needs to the future.
Delegates responsibilities, duties, or activities to designate nursing staff when appropriate. Follows up on all delegated responsibilities to ensure completion.
Ensure staff carry out resident care policies on a daily basis.
Creates written or oral recommendations to the Director of Health Services concerning the operations of the Nursing department for areas of improvement.
Conducts rounds of all nursing units to ensure the nursing staff is providing the highest level of care to residents.
Assists in reviewing and identifying all new resident medical needs. Makes recommendations on resident needs and documents in resident chart or file.
Assures that the Nursing department is maintained in a clean and safe manner for the highest level of resident comfort and satisfaction.
Inspects nursing equipment and supplies and ensures staff are operable to perform daily nursing duties and services.
Coordinates activities of the nursing units with other resident care services such as physicians, physical and respiratory therapy, dietary, etc.
Interview all applicants for nursing management positions and gives final approval for the hiring of all nursing personnel.
Recommends or coordinates all in-service and training needs of staff based on annual employee evaluation or assessment of employee skills.
Reviews all Health Center policies and procedures on an as needed basis.
Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement committee meetings to identify issues and to develop and implement appropriate performance improvement plans to correct identified problems.
Develop and implement policies for resident care with Medical Director.
Ensures staff completion of in-services/ annual education as assigned by job title.
Completes reports of incidents to local, state and federal agencies when applicable.
Ensure completion of investigation/interviews related to resident incidents.
Resident Relations
Works with Ingleside management team in building and networking with resident organizations and groups to promote the services and levels of care in the community.
