As the Director of Nursing you'll responsible for all nursing related activities in the branch and ensure quality patient care and staff performance. The DON follows the direction set by the Sr. Director of Nursing.
Telecommute considered for those residing within NYC 5 boroughs or Long Island. Must be available to be in office within 30-45 minutes of being requested.
All Telecommuters will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for the management and oversight of all nurses and nursing care provided by the nursing staff
Hires, trains, develops and manages a professional and allied staff
Assists the General Manager and VP Nursing in ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring operations and reporting and initiating changes where required and directed
Serves as the DON / Home Health Administrator in branch with a licensed home health agency
Serves as clinical resource to field staff, exercising considerable judgment, problem solving skills, and professional knowledge
Responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of systems that support the delivery of patient care and the achievement of quality patient outcomes
Assures that departmental staff complete orientation, maintain clinical competence, participates in continuing education and are evaluated in a timely manner. Participates in the orientation of clinical staff, or other branch personnel, as requested
Oversees the receipt, evaluation, acceptance and execution of the initial patient intake process to assure that patient verification, assessment, teaching, and the ongoing scheduling of nursing services occurs in a timely and appropriate manner
Manages employees through establishing performance goals, allocating resources and reviewing policies for the department. Including but not limited to performance evaluations, field supervisory visits, and performance management counseling
Assures that all patient related documentation, and clinical and departmental reports, are accurately completed, submitted, and / or filed in a timely manner, according to internal and external regulatory requirements and in support of the billing process
Maintains and participates in the review of organization wide policies and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality patient care
Participates in planning, decision making, and implementation of all branch office activities that affect clinical nursing services and the performance of the multidisciplinary team
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise, while assuming own clinical competency
Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility and budget participation through improvement and innovation
Communicates with physicians and other health care providers on nursing related issues
Directs the preparation and maintenance of departmental reports. Prepares periodic reports for supervisor, as required
Maintains all applicable internal, professional, local, state, federal licensures, certifications, and employment requirements, as required of staff department
Assures departmental understanding, implementation and compliance with all aspects of the company's Performance Improvement Program. Including but not limited to completion of quality reports, reviewing quality data, researching employee / patient grievances, participation in branch emergencies (actual and drills)
Participates in the marketing of services by providing educational programs / in - services and participating in team selling opportunities
Participates in various internal committees as requested
Serves as branch infection control coordinator
Assumes or augments the duties of the staff nurse, as required to provide direct patient care, including clinical on - call, as per company policy
Maintains proficiency with electronic medical record system

Required Qualifications:
State (s) licensure in the state of practice and others as requested
3+ years RN experience in a related specialty, such as pharmaceutical industry, oncology, infusion therapy or critical care
2+ years of experience as a registered nurse in a homecare environment
2+ years of documented proven management experience
Experience administering both acute and chronic infusion therapies
Ability to work with an interdisciplinary team of professionals including sales, clinical, pharmacy, nurses, case managers, discharge planners, physicians, outside nursing agencies, patients, families and caregivers
Knowledge regarding: ACHC, compliance, regulatory, performance improvement and state / federal requirements / regulations
Knowledge regarding: New York State Licensed Home Care Services Agencies (LHSCA) Regulations
Ability to travel s required
Preferred Qualifications:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing
Clinical leadership in home infusion therapy
Experience as a registered nurse in a home infusion environment
Experience with running an ambulatory infusion suite
Relationships with home health agencies
Knowledgeable state nursing laws with regard to home health licensure
Experience hiring and training nurse staff
Experience with nurse staffing processes
Knowledge of the Infusion Nursing Society (INS) standards of practice, policies and procedures
Certified Registered Nurse Infusion (CRNI)
Pediatric experience
