Director of Nursing (DON) Registered Nurse (RN)- Permanent Role- Greenvale, NYSpecialty Medical Staffing has an exciting new direct hire opportunity for a Director of Nursing (DON) in Greenvale, NY!  If you are a highly competent OR RN looking for something more than what you have seen in the past, we would love to connect with you. Schedule: Day shift, 5x8s, 40+ hours weekly, some late shifts required to complete all cases 
Sign-on Bonus: $5,000 to be paid in two installments (first installment after 6 months of employment; second installment after 1 year of employment)
Physical Setting: Outpatient Standard- Our specialties include: Orthopedics, Hand Surgery, Neurosurgery, Joint Replacement, ENT, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive surgery, Podiatry, and Pain Management. Our surgeons are here to meet the needs of both adult and pediatric members of our community
Qualifications/Experience:

  •     Registered Nurse
     2-4 years of full-time, or full-time equivalent nursing management experience
  •     CPR/AED, ACLS certifications on hire or within 90 days of hire
    Proof of current state licensure or permit to practice
  •     Earned degree/certification from an accredited nursing program: BSN preferred
  • The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for the center's daily activities as it relates to patient care, treatment, and staffing. The DON reports directly to the Administrator and the Medical Director to ensure the provision of quality care and services. The DON is responsible for the effective implementation of the philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures of the center and their effect on patient care. The Director of Nursing has the authority to make decisions in the center in the areas of patient care, human resources, and clinical financial management. The Director of Nursing has overall responsibility for clinical operations within the center.Leadership & Essential Responsibilities:
    Responsible for management and administration of all clinical areas.
  •     Responsible for the recruitment, hiring, termination and discipline of the clinical staff.
    Assists the Administrator in development, implementation and evaluation of ongoing service programs that ensure quality nursing, and patient care programs consistent with the center mission.
  •     In collaboration with the Administrator ensures the Center functions in a coordinated, organized manner and provides quality care and services.
    Collaborates with the Administrator in providing a service that is consistent with the patient care beliefs and shared management philosophy of the center.
  •     Serves as a member and is responsible for Risk Management/Quality Assurance Program, including Infection Control, Pharmaceutical and Safety Committees.
    Participates in the development, review, revision, implementation and monitoring of the policies and procedures.
  •     Ensures the adequacy and appropriateness of instruments, supplies and equipment, and coordinates needs with materials manager
    Monitors and is responsible for monthly variances, inventory control and maintains cost containment.
  •     Ensures that a safe environment is adhered to for all patients, co-workers and self by abiding to infection control standards
    Reviews OR schedule daily, as well as collaborating with the Medical Director, anesthesia and surgical staff
  •     Delegates tasks to ensure that patient care is provided and the needs of the service as a whole are met.
    Implement policies and procedures related to daily operation and management of patient care, utilizing AORN, TJC and AAMI standards of practice as a guideline.
  •     Monitors and is responsible for staffing and overtime usage/labor cost containment. Reviews all staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
    Assures that continuing education is available for all staff. Encourages attendance of outside conferences related to scope of practice.
  •     As necessary, provides direct patient care in all areas.
