The Director of Multicultural Affairs works within the Division of Student Affairs with specific focus on the day-to day-support of individual students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in medicine (URM). Support includes academic, career and personal counseling. Will be primary contact for URM students with an "open door" policy so that students feel welcome at any time.
Will assist students in navigating academic systems and resolving personal and financial matters. Will supervise MD career advisors and offer specific career planning programs and will facilitate 1:1 career advising for students. Will serve as primary contact for all campus wide diversity partnerships, with special focus on student clubs and organizations.
In the daily operations of the Office, responsible for budgets, website and marketing materials. The Director will complete needed assessments/reports and ensure compliance with LCME and other accrediting standards.
Masters Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or related field and a minimum of three years of relevant experience required. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with both students and faculty, possess excellent communication, analytical and computer skills required.
Must demonstrate the ability to develop mentoring and advisement relationships with students. Prior experience working with student populations in a higher education environment strongly preferred.
Monday-Friday, Days w/occassional evening and weekend hours as needed.
