The Beverley Taylor Sorenson College of Education and Human Development at Southern Utah University is inviting applications for a dynamic, highly qualified Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who can act as the Program Director of SUU's Marriage and Family Therapy Program. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate classes in the Family Life and Human Development department as well as address the creation of courses, procedures, and pre-accreditation demands prior to the MFT program launching in the fall of 2026. After approximately two years of building the program, the duties of this position will shift to managing and directing the MFT program and teaching graduate courses.

This is a full-time, 9-month faculty position with the potential for an administrative course release and a summer stipend to meet COAMFTE requirements of year round program supervision. Review of applicants will begin 30 days from the posting date and continue until the position is filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop all policies and operating procedures to assist the program in meeting COAMFTE Standards, including monitoring the program for efficacy, gathering and evaluating program data, and accreditation application preparation

• Work with other clinical programs on campus to coordinate efforts in the Program Training Clinic

• Market the program & recruit student applicants

• Screen and evaluate student applicants for program admission

• Complete additional responsibilities as per accreditation

• Teach 3-4 undergraduate and graduate courses within Family Services, Family Studies, Human Development, and/or Social Work. The primary focus of this position is teaching students. Potential courses to be taught include:

• Family Problems & Solutions

• Marital Problems & Solutions

• Values and Ethics in Family Services

• Internship/ Clinical Supervision

• Human Development over the Lifespan

• Future MFT graduate courses

• Mentor undergraduate students and provide future clinical supervision in a graduate program.

• Professional commitment to scholarly and/or creative activity.

• Participate in departmental, college, university, and community service.

• Fulfill other assignments as determined by the Department Chair and Dean.

Required Education and Experience:

• DMFT or Ph.D. in MFT

• AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Intern

• Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

• Experience with developing and/or implementing and overseeing a marriage and family therapy program, including meeting accreditation standards for COAMFTE

• Evidence of successful university teaching experience in Family Life and Human Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related field

• Preferred Education and Experience:

• Interest and ability in utilizing and facilitating educational technologies in teaching.

• Familiarity with online delivery systems.

• Demonstrated awareness and experience with issues of educational equity and pedagogical inclusion.
