Job Summary

Manages and leads the marketing department and overall brand management program for the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB). Responsible for identifying market opportunities and developing short and long-term marketing strategies with the objective of attracting overnight and day visitor business from the convention and leisure markets, as well as sets and guides the overall communications strategy for public relations initiatives and overall CVB messaging. Uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive marketing strategies, including advertising, research, website direction and electronic and database marketing and special promotions.

Essential Functions

1.In conjunction with other team members, responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive marketing program that will enhance the Grapevine CVB's position within the meetings and leisure travel market segments.

2.Ensures all marketing campaigns, collateral and outreach are integrated and strategic, supporting the mission and goals of the Grapevine CVB marketing plan objectives, creating brand position and platform, adhering to brand standards and effective expenditures of resources.

3.Ensures destination industry best practices for incorporating Artificial Intelligence to drive marketing and communications strategies.

4.Creates and manages multi-channel campaigns in partnership with Agency partners, stakeholders, community partners and organizations including hotels, attractions, restaurants, shopping venues, wineries and others.

5.In conjunction with other team members, manages the relationship and work processes with the Agency of Record.

6.Directs the development of domestic and international marketing initiatives, including campaigns, advertising, and other special projects designed to generate convention and meeting attendee and leisure visitor room nights booked in Grapevine.

7.Directs the development and production of convention, leisure, festivals, Grapevine Vintage Railroad, Palace Arts Center, Convention Center, Peace Plaza, Grapevine Concourse tradeshow materials and other organizational marketing materials as needed, including but not limited to, Grapevine Today, marketing plan, e-blasts, festival collateral and signage.

8.Works in conjunction with other team members to create strategic messaging, including the development, continued innovation and content maintenance for the Grapevine CVB website.

9.Develops, maintains and executes daily and monthly program of work with marketing and all other CVB divisions.



  1. Provides marketing skills and expertise to the Grapevine CVB by leading a marketing team capable of carrying out the necessary and expected marketing strategies and goals.

  2. In conjunction with other team members, develops and implements annual marketing budget.

  3. In conjunction with other team members, supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, addressing concerns and issues, directing work, performing corrective counseling, and completing employee performance evaluations.

  4. Maintains accurate statistics and ROI of marketing programs and efforts for regular reporting and analysis of marketing plan and associated activities and programs.

  5. Monitors industry trends and local issues impacting the Grapevine CVB organization and destination marketing work.

  6. Provides marketing support for all Grapevine CVB marketing initiatives and programs.

  7. Maintains industry and organizational economic impact models and statistics.

  8. Maintains awareness of any development projects being considered for Grapevine.

  9. Presents campaign and CVB marketing insights to internal and external stakeholders.

  10. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.

  11. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.

  12. Understands and operates within the local government arena and the political climate.


Required Skills

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including strong public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Must have knowledge of and experience in the deployment of destination industry best practices for incorporating AI to drive marketing and communications strategies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively cultivate relationships with stakeholders and elected officials.

  • Must be able to collaborate with other departments to create effective campaigns across multiple channels.

  • Must be self-reliant, good problem solver, results-oriented with strong attention to detail.

  • Must be proficient in current computer programs including Microsoft Word and Excel and skilled in the operation of computers and familiarity with CRM/CMS platforms.

  • Must have good knowledge of budget management practices.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong ability to lead, develop and streamline processes required to manage multiple projects and tasks.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing or business administration, plus a minimum of five (5) years of marketing experience in large convention bureau, major convention hotel, hotel management company or related travel industry organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Must pass a credit check, Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.

Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.

This position requires occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. This job requires the ability to work in an office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.
