Position Purpose The Director of Major Gift and Strategic Communications will manage and grow a portfolio of donors, institutional and individual, with gift capacity of $50,000 and greater for Sinai Health System.
The Director will also lead and execute the Development Departments communications strategy.
Responsibilities Major Gifts Identify, cultivate, and effectively solicit major gifts from high capacity donors.
Manage and grow a donor/prospect portfolio Prepare proposals and stewardship reports and communications Strategically involve appropriate senior leaders and board members in cultivating major gifts.
Strengthen connections with SHS by maintaining positive relationships with donors and prospects in portfolio.
Effectively utilize events as potential prospect pools and as relationship-building and stewardship opportunities.
Understands privacy and confidentiality best practices and HIPPA compliance to ensure the protection of donor information, including permitted PHI.
Maintains awareness of changes in philanthropy and best practices in major gift and planned giving.
May supervise other Development staff, whose positions support fundraising efforts.
Track activities in Raisers Edge Responsibilities Communications In partnership with the CDO, oversee the creation and production of all major publications including: newsletter, annual report, brochures, and other print materials as required.
Maintain the content of the development website.
Consider and create innovative ways to engage donors through social media.
Oversee production of videos for events and promotion.
In partnership with the Manager of Development Services, build and maintain a database and record keeping system for development communications.
Prepare development language to be used across print, online media and in funding proposals.
Complete research for the various written materials produced, which may include interviewing key program staff, donors and partners.
Stay current on SHS activities, events, and achievements and seek creative to leverage for donor and prospect engagement.
Regularly update all language and statistics to ensure accuracy, clarity and alignment of all information presented in proposals and communications.
Work in close collaboration with SHS staff to ensure that all materials align with and build on the organizations overall communications strategy.
Build constructive and purposeful relationships with SHS staff, including senior staff and the marketing team, to ensure the development office has and shares accurate and consistent information.
Ensure that all communications comply with state and federal (HIPPA) privacy regulations.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree Masters preferred.
Five years of professional major gift fundraising experience, Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with all constituencies including donors, senior leaders, direct reports, employees, volunteers, board members, and community and business leaders.
Detail oriented, timely, and has the ability to work under pressure, while managing multiple projects at once.
Ability to work independently and to synthesize and communicate data, trends, and sensitive information.
Ability to foster strong working partnerships with internal constituents Demonstrated advanced writing skills that produce clear, accurate, and detailed communications.
Demonstrated strong analytic and creative skills.
