Position Summary
Is this position exempt from overtime pay?
No
Performs monitoring for special education compliance using the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) rubrics and requirements in all Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) schools. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of the requirements of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 and COMAR regulations regarding special education. Experience in the field of special education, assessment, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development is required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?

1.Works in teams of two, internal monitors schedule appointments in each AACPS school to review a representative number of confidential files for students receiving special education services.
2.Completes MSDE monitoring rubrics.
3.Compiles monitoring data electronically.
4.Meets with Program Manager for Compliance and Legal Issues periodically, as scheduled.
5.Completes other duties as assigned.

Education
Experience
Three years of special education experience required.
Experience in developing IEPs and completing assessments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
