The Director, Loss Control position is a vital contributor to the region-wide Loss Control team. This position reports to the Regional Director, Loss Control. This position is located in our Dallas, TX office at 8144 Walnut Hill Lane, 16th Floor, Dallas, TX 75231. This is an Exempt position. The position offers various flexible work options, including hybrid/remote options, depending on what is most appropriate for the role.

Primary Responsibilities:

A Director of Loss Control is a senior-level position responsible for developing and implementing strategies to minimize and mitigate risks and losses within an organization. The primary responsibilities of a Director of Loss Control include:

  • Developing and implementing loss control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

  • Conducting risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and areas of vulnerability.

  • Designing and implementing loss prevention programs to reduce accidents, injuries, and property damage.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and deliver training programs on safety protocols and risk management.

  • Analyzing loss data and trends to identify patterns and develop strategies for improvement.

  • Managing and overseeing the investigation of accidents, incidents, and claims to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders such as regulatory agencies, insurance providers, and industry associations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as risk management, occupational health and safety, insurance, or a related discipline is preferred

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in loss control, risk management, or a related field. This may include several years of experience in roles such as loss control specialist, risk manager, or safety manager.

  • Strong working knowledge and experience in risk management principles and practices are crucial. This includes the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks, develop risk control strategies, and implement loss prevention programs. Familiarity with risk assessment tools, loss data analysis, and risk financing methods is also beneficial.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are also important for building relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory agencies.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify trends, analyze loss data, and develop effective risk mitigation strategies. The ability to think critically, make data-driven decisions, and adapt to changing circumstances is crucial.

  • Not required, however, professional certifications related to risk management and loss control can be advantageous are a plus, including the Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certifications.

  • Strong integrity and values are a must.
