Duties & Responsibilities

  • Scope and assess the learning and development needs for the organization, in partnership with functional leaders and members of the HR team

  • Evaluate the most appropriate and engaging learning vehicles for programs and initiatives (i.e. LMS, Instructor-Led, videos, etc.)

  • Lead, coach, inspire, and reinforce the performance objectives and expectations for the Learning and Development team

  • Oversee the design, management, and execution of the Learning Management System; including vendor management

  • Build, pilot, and test items in the learning management system as part of deployment activities

  • Oversee and guide third party L&D partners and contractors; to include instructional designers

  • Act as a true Subject Matter Expert (SME) on learning and development innovation, best practices, and strategies for both corporate and field populations

  • Support the organization's business transformation and change efforts through effective design and deployment of learning and change management initiatives

  • Contribute to the overall design and deployment of the organization's high potential, succession, and other talent management strategies

  • Develop and manage the resources and budget for the organization's learning programs

  • Clearly and concisely communicate with stakeholders on the progress of programs, program budgets, and design in a timely manner

  • Support the overall HR strategy and brand by partnering with HR team members to build strong and credible internal relationships with business functions

  • Manage the workload of the L&D team and external vendors through strong project management

  • Conduct assessments after the deployment of key programs and initiatives to understand strengths and risks to the solutions over time

  • Lead by example demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm

Education, Experience, & Certifications

  • BA/BS (or equivalent) in instructional design, business, human resources, or related field required

  • Master's Degree in business, human resources, or another related field preferred

  • Retail, Dining, or Hospitality industry experience strongly preferred

  • 7+ years of Learning and Development leadership required

  • PHR/SPHR or ATD professional certification preferred

  • Hands-on expertise designing and managing a Learning Management System (LMS) required, Cornerstone experience preferred

  • Significant instructional design experience required

  • Strong development experience using key tools, e.g., Enable Now, Articulate, Storyline, Captivate, etc.

Position Qualifications

  • Knowledge of innovative learning methods (i.e. digital, video, etc.)

  • Expertise in and knowledge of various adult professional learning strategies and techniques required

  • Demonstrated success managing multiple projects on time and on budget

  • Proven ability to work independently with strong negotiation skills and decision quality

  • Experience successfully engaging with senior business leaders and other key stakeholders within an organization implementing key strategic initiatives and change

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders at varying levels of management with credibility

  • Comfort with complexity, high levels of ambiguity, and change

  • Strong presentation/facilitation, content writing ability, oral communication skills, attention to detail and excellent proofing and editing skills

This is an independent contractor position working 20-25 hours per week and can be based out of your home office near the Atlanta, Georgia area. Working closely with the Director, Learning & Development, you will support the design and delivery of learning and development initiatives within the organization. You will identify training needs based on skills gaps and client needs and help design and implement group and individual learning programs in support of defined priorities and targets.
