The College of Health (COH) is at the forefront of educating health professions students and the healthcare workforce in Alaska. COH is seeking a dynamic individual with clinical simulation expertise to lead healthcare simulation programs throughout Alaska including rural and remote communities.
The incumbent oversees a team of simulation specialists who work with University faculty and community partners to develop and deliver simulation based clinical training. Target audiences include undergraduate & graduate students, practicing professionals, educators, and faculty from all healthcare disciplines. The incumbent will lead development, delivery, and expansion of simulation education across all disciplines within the COH.
Candidates should have demonstrated experience in simulation in healthcare education in a variety of programs/levels. Ideal candidates have the ability to inspire change and be comfortable in urban, rural, and frontier communities across the care continuum.
To thrive in this role, you should also have advanced knowledge of training training principles, content development, equipment, and methods; demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills; and knowledge of healthcare simulation, human physiology, medical terminology, and healthcare services. Knowledge of grant writing processes is also a valuable asset as is strong computer/technology skills and written and verbal communication.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in education or a health care field and five years progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Certified as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or eligibility to become certified within one year of appointment.
Evidence of clinical simulation skills and application through either mannequin-based or standardized patient simulation.
Preference of master's degree in a clinical health field (nursing, medicine, or closely related field).
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, term-funded, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 83, based on education and experience.
