Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of experience with facilities management. CGIS clearance required or must be able to attain within 60 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

MS (foreign equivalent or higher) or PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Physical or Life Sciences, Engineering, or related field. Four (4) or more years of experience with facilities management.

Experience with facilities management in a Biomedical Life Science research facility. Supervisory experience. Experience working with the concepts of fail out recovery of select agent facilities.

Experience working with environmental/temperature controlled rooms. Experience working with but not limited to the following agency specific guidelines; CDC, NIH, AAALAC, DOH, NFPA/NYS OFPC.

Brief Description of Duties:

The Director is responsible for ABSL3 Building systems, walk-in environmental temperature stability rooms, and particle accelerator exhaust air systems.

Accomplished through liaison with the Physical Plant staff, contract provider(s) research laboratory personnel, or by direct action with other staff. Must be able to receive federal clearance for access to select Agent-and Toxins.

Must be able to receive appropriate vaccinations and occupational medicine clearance to work in an ABSL3 facility. Develops and revises SOP's for maintenance and· repair of systems. Keep proper records relating to the complex operations and maintenance.

Understand building system operations in a bio-containment animal facility. Maintain/supervise the maintenance of all permanently installed equipment in general usage in the facility. In depth knowledge and understanding of principles of containment radioactive containment, ABSL3 operation requirement. Understanding elements of air containment and pressure differentials.

Duties:

  • Operation of ABSL3/ BES:

  • Coordinate maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, janitorial & back-up systems.

  • Monitor and control building systems as necessary for the proper day-to-day operations. disinfection and other needs of the facility.

  • Coordinate annual shutdown and preventive maintenance for building systems.

  • Monitor performance of and serve as liaison for both in-house and externally contracted maintenance services for the facility.

  • Maintain proper records.

  • Cyclotron/ Particle Accelerators:

  • Respond to daily inquiries regarding building issues including renovations, safety and other concerns. Investigate and report back to constituency regarding these issues. Elevate as necessary input/involvement.

  • Respond to after-hours emergencies in the facility as needed to maintain critical systems.

  • Provide oversight and training to all contractors, trades and other non-scientific workers on special requirements for work in a bio-containment facility.

  • Respond or coordinate response 24/7 to BMS alarms and outages.

  • Other duties as assigned.

FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
