Job Title: DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH AND EFFECTIVENESS

Department: Academic Affairs

Supervisor: Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

Job Description:

Purpose: The Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness provides leadership and guidance for planning, assessment, and reporting processes aligned to the mission and vision of Louisiana State University of Alexandria. This position reports to Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and has broad impact on University programs, promoting a culture of data-informed decision making, growth, and continuous improvement. This is a 12-month professional staff position at LSU Alexandria.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the institutional research program to support university planning, accreditation, and decision making.

  • Develop a system for assessing, analyzing, and improving processes and programs that support the University's mission and vision.

  • Support the SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison in data collection, assessment, and reporting for accreditation standards, ensuring compliance with SACSCOC standards.

  • Oversee the systematic review of policy statements by the appropriate units to assure compliance with accreditation standards.

  • Coordinate the processes of program assessment and development of improvement objectives in collaboration with the academic units.

  • Coordinate the completion of all required state and federal data reports.

  • Respond to internal and external requests for university data, including ad hoc requests.

  • Work collaboratively with IET Services and other university offices to ensure the integrity of data in the university's data systems.

  • Develop and implement surveys and analyze data as needed to support university planning, assessment, and other activities.

  • Conduct comprehensive studies on targeted topics such as recruitment, retention, and completion as requested by administration.

  • Research, analyze, and interpret university data and data trends to provide strategic direction to university departments and divisions.

  • Design and implement studies associated with the university's institutional effectiveness efforts.

  • Coordinate the university's strategic planning efforts and institutional effectiveness process.

  • Assist with regional and program accreditation efforts.

  • Serve on university committees.

  • Provide leadership and supervision to the staff of the Institutional Research and Effectiveness office.

  • Maintain up-to-date information on current policy issues and trends regarding assessment, accountability, and institutional effectiveness.

  • Support faculty in the design and execution of surveys and other evaluation instruments in support of ongoing evaluation and effectiveness projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with graduate coursework in statistics; Masters preferred.

  • Expertise in research design and methodology and statistical analysis.

  • Expertise in survey design and administration.

  • Experience with complex relational databases required.

  • Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Databases and Queries.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Experience with regional accreditation, preferably SACSCOC.

  • Five years' experience in institutional research preferred.

  • Previous administrative experience in higher education preferred.
