The scope of the responsibilities includes the following:

Strategic Planning and Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy that supports the school's mission and goals

  • Provide visionary leadership for the integration of technology in educational and administrative functions

  • Stay current with emerging technologies and assess their potential impact on the school's operations and educational practices

  • Initial provisioning and set-up of new laptops, projectors, sound systems, and other classroom technology

  • Administer, manage and maintain the GSuite ecosystem

  • Manage the storing and re-deployment of classroom equipment

  • Support the technological aspects of MCAS testing administration, uploading of accommodations, PAN, preparation of testing groups and sessions, and monitoring of real-time sessions

  • Collaborate and submit annual DESE compliance reporting as needed including helping to identify errors and remedy them

  • Manage PowerSchool system and programs in collaboration with the Director of Operations, Registrar, Operations Manager, Academic Director, and Executive Director

  • Codify School's key technology and infrastructure information and maintain current information is the "MLKCSE Technology and Infrastructure Key Information" document

  • Help maintain the School's website

Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of the school's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and communication systems

  • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of IT systems and infrastructure

  • Manage and optimize the school's data storage and backup solutions

  • Assess school's infrastructure and technology and make recommendations for improvements, upgrades, repairs, e-Rate projects and expenditures on at least an annual basis

Technology Integration:

  • Collaborate with educators to integrate technology into the curriculum effectively

  • Provide training and resources to staff and students on the use of technology

  • Push out updates, patches, and upgrades to staff or student computers on a regular basis ensuring software is up-to-date

Cybersecurity and Compliance:

  • Implement and maintain robust cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive data and systems

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and school policies regarding technology use

  • Develop and enforce IT policies and procedures

  • Ensure devices are insured or develop a documented system for recovering costs for the School when hardware or devices are damaged or stolen

  • Help maintain asset management systems and manage paperwork generated by equipment assignment and recovery

  • Monitor and maintain security systems in school building

Budgeting and Resource Management:

  • Manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources

  • Manage inventory of all school-based technology and make recommendations or requests when additional resources are needed

  • Evaluate and procure hardware, software, and services to meet the school's technology needs

  • Manage relationships with vendors and service providers related to technology

Technical Support:

  • Ensure the provision of timely and effective technical support to staff and students

  • Maintain an IT ticketing system for tracking and managing support requests

  • Troubleshoot all technical issues arising from problems with network access, computer hardware and software, printers, telephones, PA system, networked copiers, security systems, applications, replacements/upgrades, data migration/archiving promptly

  • Support MAC OSX, Windows, and ChromeOS devices

  • Setup and break down audio-visual equipment when needed

  • Frequently check email and respond to inquiries as needed within 48 hours

  • Read the Weekly Memo in advance of the start of the school week

  • Uphold our school's values, school-wide key systems and student accountability systems for academics and character

  • Consistently meet our school expectations for professionalism and fulfill required responsibilities in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer related major or equivalent experience.

  • 5 years success in IT Operations and management

  • Must have considerable knowledge of computers and related technologies.

  • Experience with PowerSchool, MCAS, student database management & DESE data reporting preferred

Salary

$65k-85k per year

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
