This individual will act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team, ensuring that HR policies and practices are in line with company goals. This individual will provide HR leadership for the organization and to the HR team. Building effective relationships with employees, managers, and applicants will be critical in ensuring success in this role. The Director of Human Resources must have a high degree of business ethics including the ability to appropriately handle confidential information. This individual also supports the employee relations activities of Monogram Train. This individual reports to the SPS VP of HR with dotted line responsibility to the WWS CEO.

  • Provides a broad range of HR support for achieving business objectives to include talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and performance management, as well as ensuring legal compliance.

  • As a member of the HR Team, provides full service HR support and drive a culture that supports Company and Safran Group Values.

  • Provides labor relations leadership, interacting effectively with Labor representatives to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes for the company and employees.

  • Leads continuous process improvement of HR practices utilizing six sigma methodologies.

  • Partners with managers and employees and the HR Team to design and implement program strategies to support the long-term business goals and objectives, ensuring connectivity, consistent communication and seamless execution of Company initiatives.

  • Develops and implements compensation, organizational design and strategies for workforce planning, deployment, and retention to address the current and future needs of the business while ensuring a diverse workforce.

  • Supports managers and employees in understanding and applying HR tools to improve organization performance through enhanced employee engagement and manager effectiveness while ensuring legal compliance.

  • Ensures the achievement of key objectives including employee retention and a safe workplace.

  • Conduct employee relations investigations and ensure compliance with State/Federal regulations and company policies.

  • Ensures effective recordkeeping of personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting.

  • Develops and maintains workforce plans, including monthly roll-forward forecasting and quarterly budget updates.

  • Counsels and advises management in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, and harassment prevention.

  • Advises supervisors and managers in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.

  • Administers performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within organization.

Job requirements

Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred , with a preferred concentration in Human Resources, Organization Development, or Training.
10-15 years of Human Resources generalist experience.
5-7 years of HR Management experience.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Labor Relations experience strongly preferred.

Current knowledge in state and federal labor laws including, OSHA, EEO and Affirmative Action required.

  • Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.

  • Provides direction and oversight to Payroll activities, ensuring timely and accurate payment of all wages in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • Provides guidance and direction to EHS/Wellness focal in the execution of EHS objectives and the Wellness program.

  • Supports training and development activities, demonstrating leadership in planning and providing direction in implementation.

  • Completes monthly and ad hoc reports as requested

Entering our 10th year of operations in Southern California, Playworks has seen significant programmatic and fundraising growth. Playworks serves over 240 elementary schools students with coaching, consultative partnerships and professional training services across Southern California. Here's where you come in: In the role of Development Director, you will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, primarily focused on the execution of a comprehensive development strategy. You will be focused on new business development (foundation and corporate), as well as individual major donor relations. This position is based in southern California and reports to the Playworks Regional Executive Director of California. More specifically you will have responsibilities in the following areas: Business Development & Sustainability * Work closely with the Executive Director, Regional Leadership Team & Development staff to chart Playworks Southern California's future growth and strategic response to an ever-increasing demand for the organization's programs and services. * Together with the Executive Director and Regional Development Team, design and execute an annual development strategy to ensure that $750,000 in operating support is generated annually. * Identify, cultivate, and deliver significant gifts from a diverse base of supporters (corporations, foundations, individuals) working in collaboration with the staff leadership, local leadership and Board. * Deliver significant gifts particularly from individual and corporate donors. * Provide management and oversight of an innovative corporate sponsorship strategy. * Manage relationships with a major donor portfolio. * Attend, assist and represent Playworks at various key fundraising events/functions, speaking engagements, tours, and other programs. * Host program visits and seek new relationships in the philanthropic community. * Prepare regular reports on development progress against targets and work with Southern California Director and Regional Development Team to ensure revenue and fundraising targets are met. Board Partnership & Development * Collaborate with the Board and Southern California Director to create a fund development plan that increases revenues to support the strategic direction of the organization. * Leverage individual board members talents and connections to seek, secure and steward support. Support them in successfully reaching their give/get goals. Organizational Leadership & Staff Management * Serve as strategic thinking partner to Southern California and state leadership. * Provide coaching, strategic guidance and critical feedback to staff, with a practice of mentorship, respecting the skills, strengths, contributions and challenges of individual team members. * Collaborate with Regional Leadership Team, development team, training team, program team and program coordinators to cultivate, develop and mobilize the Playworks network – stakeholders, volunteers, donors, etc. * Collaborate with northern California Development Director and national fundraising staff around statewide and national development opportunities. Planning, Strategy & External Relations * Cultivate and steward the local Playworks brand, ensuring consistent communications across the organization. * Manage development and communications calendar and lead quarterly and annual planning processes. * Work with staff to integrate assessment and evaluation into all organizational programs and initiatives. Administration & Operations * Manage the development budget and work with Southern California Director and California Executive Director to develop monthly reports. * Oversee local Salesforce implementation and database troubleshooting with staff. * Work closely with Development staff to ensure that all operational functions run smoothly. Required Skills & Experience * Bachelor's degree required and Master's degree in Public Relations, Business, Non-Profit Management, Marketing or related field preferred. * Experience with direct solicitation required, experience within the Southern California region preferred. * 5-10 years of fundraising and development experience. * Must be a collaborative and innovative leader, with an understanding of strength-based organizational culture, passionate about Playworks' mission and committed to education and health reform work. * Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust within a team, as well as lead group presentations. * Requires flexibility to readily adapt to a changing environment. * Strong knowledge of effective fundraising strategies including grant seeking, individual donor cultivation, corporate employee volunteer programs and event production. * Possess excellent organizational and analytical skills and the ability to multi-task and meet aggressive deadlines. * Proven track record of success in fundraising. * Tech savvy and familiarity with donor management/engagement systems and online social networks. * Flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed. * This position will require travel to various regional locations.
