Position Summary:
The Director of Human Resources (DHR) is a key strategic role for understanding and promoting the Mastery mission and serving as a Business Partner for a subset of Mastery Schools, in Philadelphia, PA and Camden, NJ. The DHR ensures that Mastery Human Resources (HR) supports an employee-focused, high performance, outcomes driven organizational culture. The DHR is responsible for the delivery and management of key HR functions of employee relations, performance management, training, and employee engagement. The DHR works with school-based leadership staff to address employee needs and manage employment issues that arise during the employee life cycle. This role reports to the Senior Director of Human Resources and may be responsible for supervising Interns and other staff, as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serves as lead business partner to school campuses/NSTdepartments - providing guidance to leaders across a variety of Human Resources related matters, including engagement, conflict management, training, compliance, and policy interpretation
Leads all aspects of employee relations for assigned campuses/departments, including investigations and legal/administrative requests
In partnership with the Senior Director of Human Resources, manages the coordination of the annual performance review cycles, including development of training materials, toolkits, and other resources
Responsible for leading or managing all aspects of complex HR projects, as assigned - from inception to conclusion - ensuring regular project status communications to key stakeholders and team members
Manages ongoing processes related to the employment life cycle including compliance, performance management, and engagement.
Responsible for analyzing survey and retention data including developing recommendations for improvements to senior leadership and utilizing the data to inform decisions
The DHR is a trusted advisor and manages the school system relationship, ensuring exceptional personal interactions and norming of school leaders. The DHR proactively manages expectations and processes and the timely meeting of deliverables, and service.
Provides ongoing project management to ensure deliverables are met on a timely and quality basis
Maintains sound working knowledge of Mastery's compliance with local, state, and federal labor and human relations laws, as well as state certification requirements and with Highly Qualified Teacher regulations
Ensures appropriate management of compliance issues
Serves as a lead first point of contact for Human Resources inquiries
Actively participates in the cross/training of Staff within the department
Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to provide strategic direction and support to other members of the HR team
Completes other duties and special projects, as assigned
Qualifications:

Skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint
Education and Experience:
HSD/GED, plus a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant, full-time, progressively more responsible experience, OR Bachelor's degree in Management (w/ concentration in HR), Business Administration (w/ concentration in HRM, Organizational Behavior, Industrial Relations, Organizational Development, and/or Leadership), Psychology, or other related field, plus a minimum of six (6) years of experience
Minimum of three (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in Human Resources Management, HR Operations, HRIS, HR Compliance, or other relevant area of HR that includes supervision and evaluation of others
HRCI and/or SHRM certification strongly preferred
Broad knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organizational development, employee relations, and/or training and development
Working knowledge of Pennsylvania and New Jersey regulations and employment law strongly preferred
Prior experience with training design and delivery a plus
Experience in urban schools or other educational setting a plus
